WHILST SERVING ON BOARD THE ASSURANCE WAR BROKE OUT WITH THE TZENKETHI. DURING A BORDER PATROL ALONGSIDE THE U.S.S. OKINAWA THE TWO SHIPS ENGAGED TZENKETHI FORCES IN THE ENELIOR STAR SYSTEM, DURING THE BATTLE THE ASSURANCE RAMMED ON OF THE TZENKETHI SHIPS AND WAS FORCED TO CRASH LAND ON ENTELIOR IV.

PERIM ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE CREW WERE CAPTURED AND TORTURED BY THE TZENKETHI AND OF THE NEARLY 700 CREWMEMBERS HE WAS ONE OF THE ELEVEN SURVIVORS RETRIEVED BY STARFLEET.

DURING 2367 THE ENDEAVOUR WAS PULLED FROM IT'S ASSIGNMENT TO JOIN THE FEDERATION FLEET MOBILISING AT WOLF 359 TO INTERCEPT THE BORG. DURING THE BATTLE THE ENDEAVOUR SUFFERED MASSIVE DAMAGE AND MORE THAN HALF OF THE SHIP'S CREW WERE KILLED WITH PERIM BEING ONE OF THE SURVIVORS.

FOLLOWING THE BORG INCURSION, PERIM WAS ONE OF THE STARFLEET ENGINEERS DRAFTED TO ASSIST MCKINLEY STATION IN RECONSTRUCTION AND REFIT WORK AS STARFLEET SOUGHT TO RE-BUILD MUCH OF IT'S FLEET. WHILST SERVING ON STARBASE 621, BARET PERIM WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT AND GIVEN COMMAND OF THE BETA SHIFT ENGINEERING TEAM.

DURING HIS ASSIGNMENT HE WAS TEMPORARILY SECONDED TO THE INTREPID CLASS U.S.S. BELLEROPHON NCC-74705 DURING THE FIELD TESTING OF A REFINED VARIABLE GEOMETRY NACELLE DESIGN. THIS PROJECT EVENTUALLY LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONVENTION WARP NACELLES THAT COULD DUPLICATE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE VARIABLE GEOMETRY WARP NACELLES WITHOUT REQUIRING A MOBILE NACELLE.

STARBASE 621 SUFFERED MAJOR DAMAGE DURING THE DOMINION WAR AND HE WAS SEVERELY INJURED AND EVACUATED TO STARBASE 51. UPON HIS RECOVERY HE RETURNED TO STARBASE 621 AND WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT COMMANDER HEADING UP THE STARSHIP REPAIR TEAM WHERE HE REMAINED FOR MUCH OF THE WAR DESPITE BEING DRAFTED TO STARSHIP SERVICE ON TWO OCCASIONS DUE TO MANPOWER SHORTAGES.

DURING HIS SECOND TEMPORARY POSTING DURING THE CONFLICT HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE NEBULA CLASS U.S.S. HONSHU NCC-60205, THAT SHIP WAS DESTROYED BY DOMINION FORCES WHILST ON IT'S RETURN LEG TO STARBASE 621 WHILST CARRYING SKRAIN DUKAT TO HIS TRIAL. BARET PERIM WAS ONE OF THE CREW MEMBERS THAT ESCAPED ALONG WITH THE INJURED FEDERATION OFFICIAL KAREEL ODAN.

PERIM'S LIFEBOAT WAS PICKED UP BY THE U.S.S. CENTAUR NCC-42043 BUT NOT SOON ENOUGH TO SAVE KAREEL ODAN, WITH NO OTHER TRILLS ON BOARD THE ODAN SYMBIONT WAS GIVEN TO BARET PERIM WHO BECAME BARET ODAN. FOLLOWING THE JOINING HE WAS TAKEN BACK TO TRILL TO THE TRILL SYMBIOSIS COMMISSION FOR TREATMENT AND ASSESSMENT.

FOLLOWING THE WAR BARET ODAN CHOSE TO REMAIN IN STARFLEET AND BECAME THE CHIEF ENGINEER OF THE INTREPID CLASS U.S.S. COLUMBUS NCC-74694, AN ASSIGNMENT WHICH HE SEES AS BEING HIS LAST OPPORTUNITY TO SEE THE GALAXY.

Personality:
Whilst Adam may come off as a bit sharp, and stern, he has always been a kind and generous person at heart. Always willing to help others, in anyway he can, and always puts others ahead of himself. Keeps focused and committed to his duties, honing his skills whenever he can as well as proving his ability time and time again.

Sometimes is very, instinctive, on several occasions Adam reacted to situation without thinking, sometimes causing minor problems, and others saving his entire Away Team. A trustworthy person, who normally encourages his subordinates to do the best they can, whilst providing them with the opportunity to shine, and prove themselves.

Career History: He was first posted on the U.S.S. Malinche under the command of Captain Sanders. This character saw a lot of combat action during the Dominion War assigned to bolster the Federation 15th Fleet to retake Betazed in the Kalandra Sector.

Part of the relief force during the siege of AR-558 delivered by the U.S.S. Veracruz in the Chin'toka System to secure the Dominion communications array.

Skills/Expertise: Advanced Combat Training, Advanced Hand to Hand combat, Warp Field Theory (Engineering Extension Courses)

Personality: James comes across as a cold individual making little time for fraternization or social intermingling. This aspect of his personality developed during the Dominion war when he sent as part of the relief force on AR-558 he quickly learned how relentless Jem'Hadar were and lost more than a few friends during subsequent attempts to retrieve the comm array by the dominion. He is quick to anger.

Backstory: Graduated from Starfleet Academy with flying colors in 2373 with special honors in tactical training and hand to hand combat proficiency. He also undertook the Engineering Extension Courses for Warp Field Theory.

He spent two months aboard as part of the security team and training the security officers on how to effectively combat the Jem'Hadar. When the Starship Malinche was order to rendezvous with the 15th Fleet to try and retake Betazed he became more withdrawn and distant than usual and this was noticed by crew members onboard the Malinche.

During the 15th Fleet's attempt to retake the Betazed system the Malinche was disabled by a wing of Jem'Hadar attack fighters in which killed most the bridge crew save for Captain Sanders and the Helm Officer. The Jem'Hadar boarded the Malinche; James' security team was caught in a fire fight on his way to secure the bridge. After having fought off the Jem'Hadar on Deck 1. James entered the bridge to find it in flames and most of the bridge crew dead. Captain Sanders ordered him to take tactical and try to get Weapons and Shields back online.

As the Jem'Hadar attack wing was bearing down on the Malinche; James managed to restore power to the forward Phaser emitters and was able to destroy two of the 4 attack ships. As engineering managed to get the engines back online the remaining Jem'Hadar ships hit the Malinche again and destroyed the Phaser emitters. Defenseless and suffering heavy losses, Starfleet ordered the 15th Fleet to retreat to Andor.

He was assigned as part of the relief force for AR-558 in the Chin'toka System in 2375. He lost most of the friends he made during the time holding AR-558 to the Dominion "Houdini" subspace mines. The dominion had found a way to counter the detection method developed by Captain Sisko previously. The loss and physiological impact caused him to distance himself from forming friends in fear of being hurt by losing them again. He has always blamed himself for letting his comrades get killed. He should have seen it coming. It was his job to see it coming.

With the physiological pressure mounting from continued conflict he became more and more withdrawn, he was focused on his job the defense of AR-558 and to kill Jem'Hadar who murdered his friends. After his team was relieved by the U.S.S. Bradshaw with the fresh wave of troops. He was taken up to sickbay for treatment and rest on the way back to earth. Onboard the Bradshaws Doctor noticed something odd about James' behavior and relieved him of duty.

He remained off duty until the end of war where he most of the time on Earth seeing a Councillor. Captain Adam Griffith came to see James on Earth and had a lengthy conversation about his career and the Dominion war. Eventually the Captain reinstated James to active service and assigned him to the U.S.S. Columbus as a security officer. Captain Griffiths felt he needed someone with combat duty under his belt.

Proficient in the design, construction, maintenance and implementation of a wide variety of holotechnology. Having in depth knowledge of hologenerators (with the purpose of allowing anthropologists to study pre-warp civilisations) as well as a keen understanding and appreciation of the intricacies of holographic projection. Charles has a strong overall understanding of the majority of day-to-day shipboard engineering specialties, having served aboard the USS Audacious as a systems engineer.

He is also a capable marksman due to having served in engagements throughout the Dominion War.

Personality:
After graduating from Starfleet Academy Charles Lockley was a bright eyed, intelligent young man who dreamed of being an adventurer. Having a natural affinity for technology he grew to be a competent engineer, excelling in both holotechnology and warp theory.

Far from achieving his goals of being an avid explorer of the galaxy, fate dragged the then Ensign Lockley and the rest of the Federation into the Dominion War. His experiences throughout the war, specifically the loss of many friends and the severe wounds he sustained during Operation Return, left long lasting scars. Charles will likely be haunted by these events for the rest of his life.

Having lost his initial fervour for exploration, Charles is now less quick to trust and clearly less at ease in social situations. Despite the harmful effects which the Dominion War had on Charles, it had one small positive outcome for him. It uncovered a talent for combat and leadership which had previously gone unnoticed.
