    I could not find the information in the link, do you know if this is actually the "retouched" version, with the new CGI work or the original TV version?

    Well considering its a Blu-Ray re-release of TOS I would assume its been retouched for 1080p. They replaced some sections in TNG blu-ray with new CGI so its entirely possible but I feel that detracts from the charm of TOS. Smile

    It has both versions. The original effects remastered to HD like all the other live elements, and the CGI remastering. You can choose which version to watch. Personally, I love the CGI in this set. It isn't particularly realistic, as that would have easily out-staged the live footage. They went at it with a "if they had CGI in the 60's, this is how it would have looked" mindset, and it compliments the footage brilliantly. The damaged Constellation looks great and one of my favourite shots is the opening of "The Cage". They really made that transition into the bridge work, unlike the original version. Definitely worth checking out.

    I had the season one bluray several years ago and it had both versions. The remastered version with CGI effects were absolutely stunning.

    Great, thank you for the information! This is a 100% buy from me. I too find the new CGI effects very well done and supporting the episodes, rather than distracting from it, or looking out of place.

    I think that trying to go realistic with it would have been a mistake. Let's face it, a lot of the show is dated and corny by today's standards, and it would have just made the live action stuff a joke. Some really strong writing keeps the episodes gripping, though, especially the really well done ones. I'd love to have seen Balance of Terror redone as one of the original movies. That would have been great.

    I just noticed they also have TNG, DS9, and Enterprise all on bluray I had no idea those got upgraded. I might have to buy DS9 if its remastered

    DS9 isn't on Blu-ray. Just TOS, Ent and TNG. From what I've heard, the TNG boxsets didn't sell well enough for them to decide to put the money into remastering DS9. Really hope that changes sometime soon.
