I don't own this game, so I know very little about it, is there a clan system within the game that has a rank structure?

If you just mean support events, I would suggest you apply to become an event officer for Holodeck, register interest in the position using this form and selecting SFHolo - Event Officer from the list! Or convince someone else to go for the position

I don't think we have any officers with Division who would be able to host events for the Division at the moment though

EDIT: have got my Dark Zone rank to 17, usually putting on a level per visit at least in zones 1-4. Not geared enough to solo higher up but i'd be keen to team it. Finding it ok solo most of the time but am aware that is easy to be gunned down. Managed to avoid a team of 3 Rogues last night who were shooting any in their path.

Going to work on my gearing in the meantime

There can be occasional graphical glitches if you played too long in a single session. That could be a sign to take a break for a while or if want to keep playing simply restart the game.

As for the Dark Zone, I didn't venture into there until I was level 30 and had some purple weapons and gear. The UN mission on hard mode is guaranteed to have named enemies dropping purple quality gear and weapons. Also, the DZ isn't the only place to get yellow gear. Once you hit level 30, you earn phoenix credits that can be used at the special vendor located at the base and the northern most DZ safehouse to get yellow weapons, gear, and blueprints. Another thing to note is that any yellow quality item from the phoenix vendor is indicated as level 31 in the item description.

Good advice

I'm kitted full purple but it's not 100% optimised atm and I made a Damascus pistol for myself. Can usually handle Hard missions and DZ1-2 easily, DZ3-4 is more interesting.

I've been doing the dailies apart from the Challenging ones, i'd love to give Challenging a go. Supposed to be v good for loot and phoenix credits and requires a 4 man, I'm going to be heading home today and ready with comms tomorrow going on.

Kinda can't wait for the Incursion add-on too, could be interesting

Challenge mode does require coordination between each team member, especially at Russian Consulate and Warrengate. Lincoln Tunnel on challenge seems more doable to me because of the plentiful amounts of cover and elevated areas to avoid getting flanked, though the grenades and snipers can be a pain. Russian Consulate is pretty much flank/shotgun city with limited tactical options because the enemies are first wave Division agents gone rogue using Division tech against you and even hack your turrets and seeker mines.

Which brings me to this question: Why can't players hack enemy turrets like the rogue npc agents can? Maybe I missed it but I have yet to see an in-game explanation.
