I loved this episode, sadly I didn't watch it when it originally aired only after it was re-run a couple of years ago. I loved the story because it gave us a glimpse into what the Federation would be like after 20 years of war and how all that hinged on whether a lone Starship fought to save a Klingon outpost losing their lives in the process.
Also I am huge fan of the design of the Ambassador Class, it shows that progression from excelsior class while retaining elements (like the neck) of the previous class while showing off new design aesthetics and clear progression into the beloved Galaxy Class.

I was like oh wow it's the Enterprise which at that time we had never seen. Well i never really cared for the Ambassador class vessel but i like how design choices in the ambassador were used in the construction of the Galaxy class, with the saucer sized section and nacelles. I have always liked Alternate timelines.

The Enterprise-C was for me the highlight of the episode, I wish we would have seen the Ambassador Class more often in the show.

I really liked the design of the Ambassador class, it's a shame it was used so rarely in TNG, I suppose this did make it's one noteworthy appearance more significant though.

I thought it was really nice that they gave Yar a proper send off, as opposed to the original rather undignified death. This also let them get Crosby back on, which was nice of them since (afaik) she left TNG for what she thought to be greener pastures.

I always loved this episode, all alternate reality episodes I enjoy thoroughly as it provides a nice variation to the standard episodes. The idea that the Federation would be at war because of such a small incident, is a frightening one as the Federation were being defeated by the Klingons and their was nothing they could do, alongside the desperation of Picard in doing something that might not have helped in anyway.
The Ambassador class is a beautiful ship as well, it is the obvious predecessor to the Galaxy as well as a follow on from the Excelsior-refit - a great way to bridge the gap between the two Enterprise's. The key role that the Enterprise C played in the history of the Federation was always a fascinating event. A thoroughly enjoyable episode, no matter how many times I watch it.
