    It's a shame that there's going to be time travel, I feel like time travel is a bit overused at times but it's necessary if they want Chris Hemsworth back in his role. I remember reading a post on Reddit about this, and I agree with their suggestions. They should have a little conversation between a couple of characters and mention that Chekov has been promoted and reassigned to the USS Reliant as first officer. It's the nicest thing to do. They should just stick a random Starfleet officer in the Navigators seat (as it is necessary) and not try to create another important character.

    To be honest I would at this junction prefer almost any other method of bringing back George Kirk. I'd even say as a ghost or as a Q - both of which sound ridiculous. But... time travel.... again.... nnnggdddhhhh..... Banghead

    Chekov really need to be promoted off the ship. Can't really imagine them doing it in any other way as they will have to acknowledge that he is no longer sitting there and I don't think it should be re-cast.

    As for Simon Pegg, well he didn't start off writing Beyond either. In fact I think he replaced Payne and McKay after they had worked on it for a couple of years. So lets wait and see! Smile

    Personally, I would probably have recast Chekov, and that's not being insensitive to Yelchin. If you think of all the canon material about Chekov, that's a lot of stuff to just ignore. In this case, I believe the character is bigger than the actor and should continue. I think Anton would agree. (A fitting tribute could have been added to the end of the movie.)

    As for the plot/subplot, sounds pretty darn interesting. I would imagine it will be a subplot to the movie, however.
