People spent lots of money on STO, think they'd be angry to lose it all for a sequel.

I don't think a overhaul is possible for so many reasons...I mean they had to shut down the foundry because the person who worked on it isn't around anymore? I just don't see a major overhaul with how many times the game changed hands and complications that can be caused.

I think the game makes so much money now that we are years away from 2.0.

I'm not....I just I think two is probably the best bet for things really improving because of the trouble history of STO.

The KEY to creativity implied by Cryptic & doing 'very' well DPS wise with the ship lies within 2-3 missions, which missions will vary drastically depending upon your build, and perhaps also the Ion Storm Console. Also note the use of Torp's with Command, and using SET bonuses.

♥ ♫♪♫♪♪ - each mission resides (mostly) in a different ARC's & 2 SETs of '3' fully possible, there are 2 sets of 3 and one set of 4 quite viable for Phaser &/or Disruptor builds however. Yet Polaron and others can have similar yet very viable options as well.

I agree with the sentiment, but I gotta be honest. Will I be mad? Yes.

But I will play STO2 lol. I'm betting many will. Besides, as long as STO1 keeps running - it's all good.

I know how this feels, because I was founder for that marvel heroes 2019 mmorpg game and also had most of characters fully levelled and many of their variants from the store. Not a good feeling but I got over it.

Theres several examples of MMO sequels. They usually release them as a simultaneous service, not as a replacement. Meaning people can keep playing the old game and it keeps being updated as long as its keeping in the black (note no need for it to be profitable just not carry a loss).

There is a reason behind gaming companies doing this of course. They expect people to play both games at the same time and eventually to migrate to the second game. And thats usually what happens too.

In the case of traits etc we collect being wasted if there is a STO2. Well what do we need them for today? The "endgame" is farming for traits etc. Once we got them there is really no content that requires them as its quite a simple game.

Would i play a STO2 if it was released? I would for sure try it and if its an improvement over STO i would play it. I'm not a one game guy so having more options does not concern me, its rather a good thing. F2P or P2W games that loose my interest will loose my patronage, because theres never a lack of games to play so its up to game companies to keep me interested.
