    So I've been playing around my KDF tactical character, K'Vope recently and been finding the Kor class Bird of Prey amazing fun. The one of the originally cool ideas with this ship was the enhanced cloak you could fire torpedoes from.

    Is there any way to really make this viable as a torpedo boat, while utilising the battle cloak? Or is it merely a cool idea that's been rendered obsolete by powercreep? I regualrly see comments of torpedo boats having some of the most nutty DPS in the game when done well, however I've never actually tried it myself.

    Thoughts and suggestions would be welcome.

    In my view worrying about DPS is the wrong way to look at a torpedo boat; especially a battlecloak sneaky one.

    Everyone seems obsessed with DPS and constant damage but where a torpedo boat can excel is in spike damage; that done in a very short period time.
    Even a normal torp boat is dropping a lot of potential damage at one time onto possibly a single target or possible a close packed group. So you don't need to obsess too much on the DPS measure over the whole mission. Obviously you need to have a pretty decent rate of fire and allow yourself to not just be sitting waiting on cooldowns all the time, but don't let it dominate your behaviour.

    A battlecloak torp bomber has a few big advantage and also some big disadvantages too:

    1) you can get into range and buff up easily without being spotted or shot at.
    2) being able to buff up without any inference is great for maximizing damage potential - order of your buffs, picking the timing to shoot, the angle you attack from etc.
    3) attacking from cloak means the enemy has no time to react before damage is done.

    4) you are UNSHIELDED when attacking. That means you are seriously vulnerable to return fire or any other enemies nearby.
    5) you need to be fast to get out of dodge after attacking, or be able to tank the aggro you will attract.
    6) even with all the buffs in the world you are still up against shields stopping a lot of your damage.

    I’ve never really thought about it like that, but no the BoP would make a poor torpedo boat imo, it lacks the seating to make it viable. Most torpedo bombers have Miracle Worker and Command seating to make use of Mixed Armament Synergy and Concentrated Firepower. Because of the nature of the BoP its designed to Alpha Strike targets. Most torpedo bombers are big ships with high HP and are stationary when firing.

    The one key thing to remember about torpedo bombers is that shields are your arch enemy. Most bombers overload on shield pen bonuses other torpedoes do sweet fa to their targets.

    Typically a BoP would best be suited to cannon rapid fire, buffing decloaking and deleting the target while getting the heck outta there.

    Indeed, that's what I'm currently using it for, which is still fun. However there's a part of me that wants to relive those Undsicovered Country vibes, quoting shakespere while gesturing to my tactical officer to fire another torpedo.

    Perhaps if I focused on radiation damage etc and relied on DoT damage from things like Neutronic etc? Bypasses shields and can be boosted by buffs?

    Most torpedo bombers use High Yield III with Undine Bio molecular (2pc), Neutronic 2pc, Delphic Distortion Torpedo (lobi) with a beam to proc various traits:

    Entwined Tactical Matrices (Gagarin trait - Beam FAW or cannon scatter volley gives torpedo spread)
    Superior Area Denial (mirror engle trait - FAW gives -30 dmg resistance to each target hit)
    Subspatial Warheads (Son’a Intel Battlecruiser (lobi) - High yield creates subspace tears like in insurrection))
    Ceasless Momentum - Promo Disco KDF cleave ship (exchange item for feds couple of mil) When firing any torpedo:
    +5% Bonus Kinetic Damage for 45 sec
    +5 Bonus Kinetic Damage Resistance Rating for 45 sec
    (Stacks up to 5 times)

    Also good thing to note is that torpedoes scale of aux power for exotic (radiation) dmg so you could have half wep energy and get max (125) aux
