Isn't that explained with the group she joined, the Fenris Rangers? STO mentions it too, in the 3rd paragraph down of Seven's history . She definitely makes a scary queen you wouldn't want to mess with.

I guess 'she joined some rangers and now she is a badass' is still a bit too much of a leap I'd like some details. A bit like how the Picard three part comic gave at least a minimal explanation of how he acquired his Romulan care-takers/valets whatever.

I found the whole Borg scene uncharacteristic to what the Borg are. Referring Seven as 'Anika'. "She still has work to do".. what?

Borg aren't a mercy race. Well not supposed to be anyway.

I think you misunderstood it. All the “Borg” were jettisoned into space. The xBs were linked into Sevens hive mind kind of like the cooperative. They had their sense of individuality and thus referred to her as Annika as they were former borg linked into Sevens new hive mind.

Emmy the ship was a regular Starfleet ship, it made first contact with the androids and subsequently its captain killed them under orders from Commodore Oh and then shot himself thinking he had betrayed starfleet when actually it had betrayed him

the cube isnt connected to the rest of the collective should would be forming a new collective with most likely a art of her borg self that has been asleep but Borg are also known to make deals until they get what they want then they asimulate like when Seven first was on Voyager they couldn't force the issue so that made a deal

Very good episode again; the series is really heating up now for the final couple of episodes!

1) The back story for the big threat is very cool.
An ancient group created synthetic life but it went past a threshold and something terrible happened. Either the synths themselves were the threat or "something" came along in response to their existence and did a lot of harm to the galaxy.
So these guys leave a massive warning beacon, 8 stars in one system engineered with uber-advanced technology to be highly noticeable. This is all getting very cool.
.........hmmmmmm who has power like that.....Iconians??

2) if the ancient group had power to move stars why was a synthetic danger so hard to stop? The power to move entire stellar objects is not something to be sniffed at!

3) linked to the above "threat", i wonder if they might drop in mention of the galactic barrier? It was supposed to be there to stop some massive power from outside the galaxy getting in according to some stories.

4) Nice to see the Borg Cube get "reacquainted" with its previous life!
Seven was pretty cool and it's interesting to see she still retains a lot of info about how it all works.
As different as the new Borg tech aesthetics are i actually really like the feel of them; the ship feels more mysterious and alien with all the high-tech moving walls and hidden passages. It's as if it was all engineered by a consciousness that the main players simply cannot fathom and only makes sense to a Borg.

5) Some poor sod is going to be really upset when they end up sailing through a cloud thousands of dead drones and smearing them all over their windshield. I'm guessing the Romulans will have some explaining to do about what heck happened there.

6) The scene with all the holograms was awesome. Well done to the actor playing them all; though the engineer was a bit odd.Not sure if he was meant to be from my neck of the woods or not going by his language!

7) Confirmation Oh is a Rom-Vulcan hybrid. That accounts for the mind meld last week. Plus how she got to be so high in SF as a pure Romulan wold surely get spotted a mile off.

Interesting that ZV are all women. Not sure how significant that is yet. Also not explained why only the Romulans seem to be aware of this warning beacon planet despite it existing for millennia. Then again everyone seemed to have forgotten where Iconia was too so i guess it's possible.

9) the talk between Picard and Rios was excellent. Good to hear a proper old Picard speech about being right, a good person and his usual way of looking at things.

Overall we've had a lot of slow paced character building and now the story is really kicking off it seems. Looking forward to a good old show down at Soji's homeworld; Borg Cube vs Tal Shiar fleet anyone?

If Clancy's reinforcements play any part, I'm fairly certain that they will all be new ships...just to avoid licensing fees. This Star Trek is made by Secret Hideout, under license from CBS/Viacom. Secret Hideout must pay licensing fees for use of any exact IP from any original Star Trek property, like they did with the Enterprise-D in the first episode of 'Picard', or they can make everything 25% different without issue, like the Enterprise from 'Discovery'. They can also just introduce new ships. I'm guessing new ships...less work...less grief from the fans for modifying fan favorites...less cost, because they can throw together whatever they want, without having to pay licensing fees.

I'm actually starting to enjoy the show now that it's not going at a snails pace.

My favourite character(s) are still Captain Rios and his merry band of holograms, that man is an extremely talented actor. I genuinely laughed at a few parts with his holograms.

The ships, or whatever they are, in the "next time on Picard" shown guarding the android planet sure do look a bit like Herald ships. We'll see.

I actually didn't know this and is new piece of information to me, but it explains alot.

So that means showing Data also involved additional payout? This also explains why after EP1 of Picard everything was so slow into EP8 - CBS sucked them dry.

I didnt think iof the Herald ships Istill think thaty Seven is going to show up but surprise seven isnt actually Seven as her human self I still think somehow Collective is going to activate Seven when she reconnects again to the Cube to move it which she wil have to communicate to the other Borg to do so via connected to the Cube so that they can get the Tech from the synths which to me would be predictable for Borg especially is a Queen is involved . there are allot of tiny moving parts in the story but like watching a Magician on stage dont look at the hands otherwise you wont see what really is going on.

I only just realised a massive plot hole, thanks to RLM.

It was shown in Star Trek First Contact that Borg can survive the vacuum of space just fine.
