I know they're busy working on the Klingon update but I hope they add something with this years summer event...besides just some clothes. It would be nice to see some summer space boff abilities since we haven't gotten any.

Yes, I understand that they need to make money, but not even EA was this greedy and everyone hated them for what they did with SW BF2.

You havent seen what they did with The Sims 4 then....
The problem with SW BF2 wasn't that they were trying to make extra money, thats a given, but the outcry was that they added blatant Pay 2 Win mechanics: paying more to unlock more perk cards would give you a distinct advantage over other players. And whats worse, when you got killed, you are shown what cards (and what level of cards) the other player has equipped, a tactic designed to make you think "if I pay a bit more, can I get those same cards and then kill more players?".

I agree though what you are saying about the prices and greed in STO. Its not as bad as EA, but things like the Legendary bundles are another step towards the end of this title. WHich is a shame because its a great casual MMO to play. In my opinion, the Legendary ships should have been made available in smaller packs of maybe 3 ships, so you could choose the ship you really want or heck get them all anyway. Or sell them individually, but thats a discussion for another time.

Being on the Console side of things it's always quiet for me.

But I do share the concerns of the community over the state of the game. I recall a time where we had the weekly featured episodes, story arcs played out over a month, and you never felt like you were running out of things to do without being in a grind.

I had hoped that with Andre Emerson coming into the game that we'd see a change for the better. In some respects he has made improvements but in others I think it is sorely lacking. I'm excited for the new Klingon content, I will definitely roll a Klingon toon to try it out. I've never played Klingon characters for very long and I've also never rolled a Romulan or a Jem'Hadar toon. I'm a Starfleet officer at heart and perhaps that is to my in game detriment.

But all of that aside, even on the Federation side of things, the game needs a change in direction & soon.

There's too much stuff these days just locked behind paywalls. I get it, they're a business not a charity and they need to make money for this, that and the other, but the drive and desire to charge people for stuff has become increasingly obvious over the last year or so and I'm of the opinion that the constant stream of events is a fairly transparent effort to boost their server traffic numbers, metrics etc (though you could argue it's also an effort to gloss over a lack of fresh content) and hopefully draw people in to make impulse buys. It is starting to slide towards what you'd expect to see in the various mobile games in terms of how it operates.

I've spent a fair whack of change on the game over the years, but as I said elsewhere, my wallet is done and isn't getting opened again for STO.

This is the most worrying thing i feel.

People seem to be content to have all these constant buyout options etc but it's fast approaching the day when you end up the route of mobile games with "pay to continue playing, you've reached you daily TFO/kills/lightyears/space barbie/chat messages limit" crap.
