Yeah, I probably went through over a thousand phoenix boxes to get that one epic, but I have most of the ships currently available from the old events so I've been sitting on the token for a rainy day or if they do something new with the phoenix store (which hopefully they finally are going to with the resumed freebie box announcement being just the start). The tokens are account bound so they aren't tradeable currently, but I shouldn't have any need to burn the epic one anyway given the toons I regularly play.

Hah, I'm using my tokens on my fleet dreadnought, gonna use your Legendary Galaxy Tank build on it, Still have a soft spot for it.

I might switch back to her as my tank because now I could run Cold Hearted on it and Debuff anything around me.

BTW: This was the update I thought would create a lot of Drama but they made it a good upgrade.

I wonder how this will affect the naming of the Galaxy class and Galaxy-X class ships:

A cosmetic upgrade will also occur, altering the name of your ship’s class to append a “-X” designation to its current class name, indicating that an eXperimental upgrade has been applied to that ship’s class.

Will the upgraded Galaxy class become a full on Galaxy-X class ship? Will the Galaxy-X class become a Galaxy-XX class, or a Galaxy-X-X class ship?

So something at launch I can't obtain other than the free once since I've literally never pulled anything beyond a very rare token from phoenix packs after million+ of dilithium

You can easily get more than one for free. At the start of the event for about one week, you can claim one experimental upgrade pack in the Phoenix Prize store for free one per day.

I asked Kael if there is a limit of Upgrades per ship. The answer is yes.
One upgrade per ship. No twenty console behemoths.

I read that as a free Phoenix Pack per day, like they normally do. NOT a free Upgrade per day.

One free Upgrade from the C-Store:

Visit the “Space Items” tab of the Zen Store to claim yours! (Limit one free claim per account. Token is Bound to Account.)

Also, these Upgrades are available for a Limited Time Only:

Experimental Starship Upgrade Tokens will be available on the Phoenix Reclamation Store only during these special events, the first of which will be scheduled to run until October 12th, 2020.

However, you do get TWO of them for an Ultra Rare Phoenix Token:

Purchase a bundle of two of these tokens in exchange for one Ultra Rare Prize Token.

The way I read it, you get one free at the start per account.
Then during the "free phoenix box event" you can potentially get them if RNG shines upon thee. At this time also you can buy them from the Phoenix store for one UR token giving you two upgrades.
They are also going to be in the C-store for Zen prices.

Once the event ends they will no longer be available from the Phoenix store but will be in the C-store permanently to buy with Zen.

So I guess the best way to get them is the C-store as it is fixed price?
Going the phoenix box route will waste millions in dilithium (and they know it!) as it's all RNG.

They can also be sold on the exchange, so there is a new market to get into there if anyone has the need to play the markets.
