Luckily, you're wrong. Lobi, lockbox, and promo ships have the experimental upgrade account wide. It's just that obtaining the lobi, lockbox, and promo ship you have to do it per character like fleet ships.

I imagine we'll see T7 at some point in the future (probably couple years) just that right now its not happening. I like the way they are doing this, you can get them without having to spend money (phoenix box) OR you can buy them from exchange/zen store. Its adding some real nice boons to ships. While yes power creep is something that needs to be addressed, doing something like bumping up to "legendary difficulty" wouldn't address the problem because it would be just insanely bloated HP values, resistances and damage.

What would be a better solution to address power creep is either: Widescale nerfs and balancing, or putting in the development time to revamp how difficulty works and adding in gameplay mechanics to provide challenge alongside tough enemies.

I think it would make sense for the borg to be buffed. Give them higher hull regen and increase their energy damage resistance. Something else law they could do is give the borg a much stronger version of the space trait, Adaptive Defense.

I honestly don't think the game has enough life or goodwill left in it to justify a T7 group. Everyone having to suddenly buy their ships all over again and wait for them to cycle through the store/boxes/promos?

I can't see that happening to be honest and this upgrade idea feels like they're trying a way of moving forwards while avoiding a repeat of the Delta Rising backlash when T6 was introduced. I suspect we'll see further tokens down the line for hull boosts, turn rate and such to be applied.

I have absolutely zero problems with this idea. You could customize your ships. One has the extra console slot and another one has an extra aft weapon, and a cruiser has an aftermarket secondary deflector. FED ships are supposed to be modular after all.

Yeah, I more see it as releasing a base ship and then you can add on features. I actually figured that was what you do with the T5s when this was originally thought up, but that obviously changed.

And really other than adding a secondary specialization or making a ship fully specialized, there isn't really anything they can add that would make me jump up to T7.

Honestly they should just milk T6 + modulations as Taku and Petrarch say.

Speaking of milking T6, I bet they do this again but buff other aspects of the ships. Theres so many other ship stats which could be buffed with more paid upgrade packs.
+1 fore/aft weapon maybe (could make some ships utterly broken, especially considering limiting weapon slots has been a balancing mechanic for years). So what about +5 max power levels? +10% Hull/Shield capacity? increase turn and inertia ratings?

What about stacking multiple upgrade packs on ships? T6-X becomes T6-X1, X2, etc. That'll be taking the phrase "Broken & Overpowered" and dialling it up to 11. Its a rabbit hole Cryptic could easily fall down in their pursuit of $$$.
