Hello everyone!
With the looming release of the new ZEN 3 AMD and Radeon 6000 GPUs I've seriously been considering jumping ship from Team Blue and I'd love some advice on some computer parts. I will either be getting a 5900X or 5800X ZEN 3 cpu.
I'm looking for advice on a new motherboard to support the system. Here is the sort features I'm looking for on the motherboard:- M.2 Support
- DDR4
- x570 Chipset
- AM4 Socket
- Supports Overclocking
I've put together a small list of potential Motherboards from Amazon and CCL Online below:
MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS
ASUS TUF X570 PLUS
Any advice or alternative suggestions would be appreciated!

Don't the "B" boards have less bandwidth on the PCIE lanes? I could be wrong. But that could bottleneck some performance for a beefy GPU.

I've gone through quite a few AM4 boards since Ryzen first released. At the weekend, I replaced a B450m Steel Legend with the B550m Aorus Elite, pretty happy with it so far. I'm a bit limited on options due to case size (MATX or ITX only) and needing at least 2 M.2 slots.
Worst so far has to be ASRock B450m Steel Legend. It was cheap for its features but woeful quality, and the on board fan controller completely died after seven months.
ASRock X570 Taichi is a good overclocker with decent VRM cooling, I wouldnt ignore that one but I have trouble recommending ASrock at all now.
The MSI X570 Gaming, A-Pro, Gaming Pro, etc all have terrible VRM and MOSFET cooling: they overheat and cant overclock as much. Avoid them at all costs.
But MSI's Tomahawk is actually a great performer because it doesn't share the same issues.
ASUS are usually a solid choice, however the TUF branding isnt as good as it used to be. Back when TUF was Sabertooth, you were getting the highest quality components available on a motherboard. These days, TUF motherboards are pretty much Prime series with a gamer aesthetic.
Hardware Unboxed have released a few comparison videos specifically covering X570 boards. There have been newer releases since then but most of the tests boards are still available today.

What are your thoughts on this MSI Tomahawk board? Honestly I feel like the Wifi is a useless addition since I wouldn't have a usecase for it.

Built in Wifi is getting more popular these days, even on full size ATX because its cheap to add, its another selling point, and wifi is pretty good these days. Not necessary for most people, but a deal breaker for some users.
The Tomahawk has 12 phase power delivery and proper MOSFET cooling; it'll provide stable overclocks without killing itself. Plus is full of the features you'd expect from an X570 board. Its a good choice for the money.

My current mother board is MSI X570 Gaming PRO. I don't have any overheating issues with my Ryzen 3900X, RTX 2080 SUPER and 32GB RAM on it with XMP profile running. The only thing I do is use after market cooling solution
Then again, I've not overclocked / undervolted because I have no need - all is good as it is.

If you're an enthusiast, then you should probably be looking at Tomahawk, or even better, GODLIKE motherboard from MSI.

I've seen a few reviews where the MSI godlike had 60-70c VRM temps where as the Tomahawk only has 50-53c, if thats the case I don't want to risk it.

For basic 'plug & play' then they do the job. But when you start adding more voltage to the CPU for overclocking, thats when the boards I mentioned start to suffer. We're taling VRM temps in excess of 110*c and poor CPU stability.
