I suspect someone somewhere has calculated the cost metrics of selling it as a bundle over selling them individually and worked out that on a profit-for-profit basis, the bundle makes them more money. Plus, if you do the bundle as a "limited time" issue, like they've been doing with the big FED one, it drives sales hype.

Sadly, I feel that apart from the guys doing the new skins/models, who really are trying very hard, the rest of the group designing the ships features are just like "Eh, they get a fancy skin, but we don't want to make it a super-ship, so lets give them this but nerf this..." That's why the Vor'cha has a 5/3 build but can't turn - forcing you to fit turn based gear if you want to go for a cannon build. It nerfs what you can do with it.

Unless this new Ambassador class absolutely redefines what a FED cruiser does, I'm very much put off from this pack.

Indeed they have, and I like the new skin too. It does make me wonder if the Ambassador will be identical considering it's the Federation counterpart to the Vorcha.

I'm also intrigued to see what route they go with for the Ambassador's unique skin. I'm wondering if Thomas Marrone has made another TMP variant similar to the Gorgeiou class for the Walker. Like, a prototype inbetween.

We shall see I guess, it could be a new 2410 variant. Guess we will find out soon enough.

If they have a Zen sale combined with the sale on the bundle itself, then I will probably get it. I have all the Legendary bundles so far, and I've really enjoyed them. While some people complain about the price and quantity, I see it as a solid driving force keeping STO profitable and in production.

I've played since Beta, and have no intent of stopping soon. While I don't agree with all their business models, I think overall they have done a great job.

These ships might not be the uber ships of the game, but then again, unlike Bridger, I am not going to be able to get all the DPS out of them as possible. So long as I get my 80-200k DPS, I'm happy. Not to mention these ship models look damn good, I love all four designs.

Whatever they do, it'll almost certainly be new, as Andrew Probert's original concept and Rick Sternbach's redesign that was used for the actual model are the only 2 concepts that ever existed for the ship as far as I'm aware. I don't know if they'd take the full TMP route this time as the Ambassador was envisaged as in-between design leading from the Excelsior to the Galaxy. This one is quite big, I didn't resize it so the writing is still readable.



I've always seen the class a transitional design - it blends the hallmark looks of TMP with what would be seen in TNG era.

The only other thing I've come across is below - according to what's said on MA, it was intended to represent the USS Pegasus but ended up getting dumped for the Oberth model (what they were trying to avoid in the first place given how heavily it was reused) as it was still too costly to craft it despite being made from the Ambassador parts.

Can't just make a good ship can they? It's nice the ship got a 5th forward weapon and battle cloak, but it lost 3.5 turn rate which will make it hard to make a great cannon build out of the ship? (The blog says this one has a turn rate of 6.5 while every other version has a turn rate of 10)

Just like with the Brel, got that 5th tac console but they left it 4/2 and only 4 boff slots which essentially made it inferior to the anniversary raider

The BoP is pointless when you can get a ship which is almost identical if not better by running a KDF recruit just now and buying a fleet T6 M'chla BoP. Absolutely no need to pay a bloody fortune unless you absolutely must have the TMP-era BoP skin on your raiders.

The other ships have nice models but don't really look like anything special; another couple of Federation cruisers.....yawn. You can do just as well with any of the other million cruisers already in the game Fed side and even the Ambassador already exists in a psedo-T6 form as the Guardian which whilst not top tier is more than capable of any content and looks near identical to the concept anyway.
The only ship that I see as being an actual improvement is the Excelsior but you'd have to be out of your dammed mind to pay $200 for a single ship getting improved.
