So I have a lot of toons, but I only play 3 of them with any regularity (Fed, Rom, Klink).

My Fed is my "main" and I originally was going to spend all the moniez, ec, lobi, keys, ect on that one toon. I wanted my main to have everything and be able to do anything. However, I also felt the need to specialize my toons, like if my main was in a beam boat I wanted my Rom in a torp build and a sci-toon to be a space wizard, ect.

But here I am, deciding how to spend lobi while it's on sale, and I'm like, do I buy my main yet another ship? Do I get ships for traits for my sci toon? Idk it seems very expensive spending resources in multiple toons like this, for one-off ships. Hell if I know what to do. I could get a Kelvin Intel Dreadnaught for my main since it's about the only thing it doesn't have, but who knows.

How do the rest of you handle developing alts or spending resources on them?

i have a few playable toons all decent geared i have the Legendary ships so they account for most the ships in use on them, Lobi gear is not essential to make a toon a viable playable toon i have 21 toons 18 are playable

This is my top DPS toons only Varak and Lorkan have lobi gear the rest do not


if you want to increase options on alts then get the gear for the next best toon just depends on how you plan on playing them long term.

I guess equally would be the closest answer....I have a bunch of alts but I typically spend a lot of time on one and after a while I play a different one. I don't like hoard my best stuff for a specific character or anything

I have 3 mains and a bunch of Dil mules lol though with L ships my mules have workable setups now.. My 1st toon and Fed main has been setup for tanking or blitzing tour lol, my 2nd is a Rom Sci cap with a Sci build and my 3rd is a Reman DPS cap. Lately my Reman has been getting all the toys, though once in a while I will sang somthing for one of my other two toons.

I usually play 1 of 3 main toons regularly and am pretty balanced on making purchases and upgrades between those 3. I also have 10 alts, but they are mostly Recruit toons or rainy day builds that I don't mess with nearly as often. My mains cover all 3 captain career types and their ship builds are different enough to keep things interesting if playing as one gets a bit stale, and can usually pull around 400k DPS on any one of them in a solid ISE run. I've never been big on dilithium mining so outside the 3 mains my alts are all running account unlocked or rep gear, not expensive stuff, and few if any of them are Eilte-TFO-worthy.

I don't play often enough to want to care about my alts, so my main tactical gets all the goods and my alts I only jump on if I feel like doing science. Unless there's a special event like the recent second chance to make a Delta recruit.

I have had 3 mains, 2 FEDs and my current main, a KDF Reman. I have 10 "alts", all of them have lots and lots of Inventory and Bank space. That's what they're used for, storage of stuff. I don't farm DIL.

I will run a Recruit toon through the Recruit rewards and then mothball it. My main gets the goods. I have two toons that each have a Vengeance, but only my current main has any Lobi weapons to go with it. (That Ba'ul Lobi set is a Godsend for [AP] players.)

So, I am a freak -- apparently. I build my alts until I get what I want from them and then I turn them into storage closets. But I don't turn them into DIL farms because that's just more crap to do. Sue me.

How do the rest of you handle developing alts or spending resources on them?

It depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to min-max everything, then concentrate everything on one main character and the rest are supporters. This is also true for me when resources (time or in-game currencies) are very limited, and the last time I remember this well was when Delta Rising was released. For example, the starship mastery and captain specialization were introduced with it. I got some new T6 cstore ships to fill the starship trait section, continue as an agro tank and be able to do all content. I did this to keep the theme of my main going on, namely the Hero: Captain Eks, commanding officer of the U.S.S. Independence, a Sovereign-class. So I give my main everything first without breaking my headcanon. This doesn't mean though I give my main every possible toy. For instance giving my main a Universe-class starship would ruin my headcanon and fun.

Folling my my main I got also a list of alts. Each of them follows another theme and I also try different playstyles. Over the years I gathered with my casual gaming enough ingame resources to allow myself to buy some premium items for my alts and often I do the expensive purchases if there is a sale. Some of them got even to the point where they perform now better in TFOs than my main and I enjoy them a lot. For each alt I give them something that is their thing.

Nonetheless I follow my scheme and I am dedicated to my first main. Whenever some new system or items are released, I always answer for myself the question if it is something of desire for my main. Also I keep strategic assets/reserves (promo boxes, lockbox keys, refined dil) that I only touch if/when I need something for my main. By doing this I refrain myself from spending real world money on the game.

Also like that we both keep strategic reserves of things like governments do for oil.

Played equally both Fed and Klink, recently play Rom again.

So now only those toons that I upgrade their equipment to legendary.
