• Thomas is now the art director for STO
• Anniv update will end the Terran arc story line
• Klingon recruitment will re-run this year
• New Mudd bundle planned soon
• Teasers for the 13th anniv bundle will come out later this month
• Nothing special for the DS9 30th anniv
• No ETA on DSC Andorians, its something people are working on in their spare time
• Kael has passed on the information from Spencer's video, and research is being done on it. Kael does say "don't quote me on this"(but I will) that he believes some of Spencer's conclusions are incorrect, but there are people looking into it
• Unlikely they would make new factions, makes more sense to make content for everyone than make new faction/tutorial
• Doing Twitch Prime loot drops is up to the company(publisher). Kael believes that there was a test on that for Neverwinter at one point, but for whatever reason there wasn't a continuation. Kael will ask the partnership person since shes back from maternity leave on if twitch Prime drops are doable
• Kael believes there has been positive progress on the Nickelodeon/Prodigy front
• Diltihum market issue has less to do with bot farms, and more to do with a lack of things people want to spend dil on
• Unlikely they would do more adventure zones like New Romulus, makes more sense to spend resources on story missions
• Someone asked why Cryptic doesn't just hire more devs. Kael says that while STO is making good money it isn't profitable enough to just hire a bunch more devs. There's no secret bank of cash for them to hire more people. Though Kael does say STO is doing well to the point he thinks it will go on many more years
• Someone else asked why not just let people work on the game for free. Kael says because its a full time job, and no one is going to make you work a full time job for free", its also probably illegal.
• Cryptic Studios did consider a internship program in the past, but decided against it because thats not how the company works. And unpaid internships are bad, and they didn't want to support that.
• There is a story blog coming on Thursday involving Section 31(someone asked about Section 31 content)
• New Fed bridges on the horizon. The two new Fed bridges that came out last year will make it into player hands. Though that may be a far horizon
• Andre Emerson poised the question to the fanbase on if they would accept a season update just bringing back the old removed Klingon War missions. The answer was an overwhelmingly yes. Though that decision isn't entirely Andre's to make, its Andre, Al, and the story team, who're excited to tell new stories also. So Kael isn't sure if thats on the horizon
• There was never any plans for another Fed time period start. They based what they did on the shows. The TOS start was for TOS's 50th anniv/AoY. DSC was done because it was the new show, and they wanted the people that show would bring in to have a start the show they knew. Never anything for like a "beginning of the Federation" story line/start planned, though Kael thinks that would be an interesting story to explore one day
• We might get a 32c story line one day, but for right now they're planning to stay in their own time period
• Unlikely for GPL to get anything to make it useful any time soon. Though conversations have been had.
• Kael believes the Constitution III from Picard is in the pipeline
• Unlikely there would ever be an update that completly redoes STO. If Cryptic did another Trek project it would be something new, not a remake of STO
• Someone asked if 1.5 year long stories like the Terran arc will be the norm, or if 3 year stories like J'ula are still possible. Kael says it depends on the kind of story they want to tell. Kael himself is an advocate for sometimes doing shorter story lines
• Kael isn't sure how the new OGL(D&D related) will affect Cryptic, though Cryptic has their own separate license/agreements with Wizards
• Cryptic is "so close" to getting squadron player ships working. Kael occasionally bugs Thomas, who bugs the programmers, about working on it.
• Cryptic is working on loadout bugs
• Cryptic hasn't rerun shuttle events because they weren't super popular. If they ever redo small craft they might do them again.
• New clothing/outfits is something Cryptic is always working on, but don't expect a huge rush of new clothing items because they've got two character artists.
• No plans for a Borg arc revamp right now
• Cryptic plans to make T6 versions of the T5 lockbox ships that haven't gotten one eventually
• Kael will look into if in a future stream they can do a stat stream detailing the most/least popular race, ships, items, etc
• Someone asked about mission reward sets, and how theres not much reason to repeat missions nowadays without them. According to Kael, they stopped doing mission reward sets because they found that, even with them, people weren't repeating missions to get all the rewards anyways. This is why they switched to more frequent TFO events/rewards.
• Someone asked if there will ever be a "Year of Romulan". Kael mentions the "Year of Klingon" was a marketing term he came up with since they were doing a lot of Klingon content/remasters and Klingon focused storyline. Cryptic has already done everything they would do for a Year of Romulan the year before when they updated those missions a bit/added new cutscenes and such.
• Its safe to assume there will be a new event campaign this year. They've been wildly popular so far.
• Player selectable warp out/beam out effects is a big technical hurdle, though Cryptic has discussed it internally

I don't really buy this myself. If there's a lack of things to spend it on as they claim, then how is a bot account that's potentially raking in hundreds of thousands of ore per day across 50 or so characters week in, week out, not having an effect? Why not just put things in to buy with it if they think it's that simple?

They seem fairly determined to do as little as possible here to flush the excess dil out of the economy.

The character warp out/beam out effect thing was something I remember them talking about years ago, so while I guess I'm glad to see them still talking about it the fact it's been 3 years and is still something that's a big technical hurdle I doubt we'll ever see it.

The next Mudd Bundle, if they stick to their usual timeline I'm guessing we'll see around March sometime. Will be interesting to see what this years anniversary bundle will be.

I think the restoration of the Klingon War story missions would be great, as having played through it recently with a new character and comparing it to the older version of that ark, there are so many things missing from it. B'Vat went from being the big bad to a guy who you encounter once briefly and then he's just gone. The current story as it is works well enough for those who are new and don't remember all the older missions in that ark, but for those that do it's a little different. That being said using up a whole season update just to bring back early game I don't know...although if that means they fix some of those bugged missions and accolades in the process that would be worth it maybe.

It is good to know STO seems to be doing well enough that will go on for some more years yet, even though you can tend to forget they're not the biggest group at Cryptic.

I wouldn't believe anything that muppet says, the question last year from Borticus about Admiralty says everything not to mention that they are so separated from their own game that they don't know anymore what is creating what.

I mean they aren't exactly wrong in terms of there not being a lot of things to spend dil on, but at the same time to say that that's the reason the dil market is in the state it's in and not bots, farm spammers etc is so wrong.

Yeah, it is difficult to believe bots aren't having an effect on the game, given that Spencer's videos and posts have driven the bot farmers to try to cover their tracks, and the dilex has continued to fall in recent weeks even though the holiday sales and whatnot are over. A month ago the Dilex backlog was 10-11 million, but now it has fallen to 8.1 million right now.

Part of that might be people taking a break before the 13th anniversary stuff starts up at the end of the month, but I'd suspect part of that is probably bot farmers holding off on new bids or maybe even cancelling existing orders to make themselves less obvious targets. I could see Spencer being off on some specific hypotheses, but Kael's dismissal was probably too far in the other extreme. Hopefully there are Cryptic people truly investigating this as Kael said, and those people end up taking some action on this.

Yeah, like while we know it's not correct, I'm okay with Kael saying on stream that that's not the problem as long as behind the scenes they know it is a problem and are working on doing something about it. But if it's a case of them actually believing that it's not a problem and not doing anything about it at all, that's a whole different story because that means it will never get fixed to any extent.

Nothing worth buying with DIL, you say? Gee, who saw THAT coming? Oh, yeah!

Is there anything in-game that I actually want to buy with Zen, or am I just after gamblebox keys? Everything worth having seems to be either encased in an outrageously priced Zen bundle or tied up in a lockbox. My 1.4M DIL won't put a dent in a Legendary bundle, and won't get me enough keys to get the Big Item (whatever it may be) from the lockboxes. There's simply nothing worth BUYING. (05 JAN 2023)

I can think of 3 things I mostly spend Dil on. The occasional Fleet Ship or something else Fleet related that requires DIL, which is rare. Reputation stuff, which generally doesn't cost a lot of Dil but primarily skipping the wait time on R&D projects. That's pretty much it.
