I really enjoyed this episode. Seeing Orion for the first time was great and was a great look into where Tendi gets all her skill from. Certainly explains a bit more of how she was able to be such a good cleaner on the undercover mission in the ****** Neutral Zone with Commander **** and others. Brotherford was great and the who thing of trying to get Freeman and the other Captain to be Mark Twain was perfect. The Poor Bonsai tree, I hope they both get compassionate leave to grieve the loss of their shared responsibility.
Back on Orion, Mariner being stabbed was perfect, evenly spread out and just the right number of times. Great character moment with T'Lin prioritising ethics over enlightening the high command on how Orion functions. I am really looking forward to seeing how this all plays out over the next few episodes also more magic space laser deaths. At least Tendi was able to help Starfleet this time.

I wonder if T'lyn has a human parent or something, she reminds me of Spock in a lot of ways.

I wonder if T'lyn has a human parent or something, she reminds me of Spock in a lot of ways.
A new "Spock" character could be interesting, but we saw subtle signs of emotion from just about all other Vulcans despite the stereotype often attributed to them. The emotions are present in all of them (aside from possibly those that complete Kolinahr), and they as a species try to hide them beneath a veneer of logic. T'lyn may just be just be at the more relaxed end of "normal" for Vulcans in general. Despite the level of depth we've seen in character development from Spock, Tuvok, and T'Pol over the years, we haven't seen a ton of development of other Vulcans over the years, so we don't have a ton of grounding around broader Vulcan society. ENT probably gave us the deepest looks, but that was a Vulcan that was under Romulan manipulation, on the verge of a cultural renaissance with Surak's katra and teachings becoming public knowledge again, etc., so Vulcan society as a whole could have changed a fair amount by the time of LD.
That said, Lower Decks also hasn't really done much with the Romulans aside from the ever growing brawl during the opening credits and the open of one of the episodes this season. If T'lyn were part Romulan or maybe even fully Romulan there could be some interesting story arcs there to explore now that they don't have to worry about tripping over Picard plotlines with them. I don't know that I necessarily want to see the narrative go this direction, but I've always felt Trek has kind of underplayed the narrative potential of the Romulans even despite TNG/PIC in particular leaning on them a fair amount. Again, I don't know that this is necessarily the direction I want LD to go, but by the same token I'd be interested in seeing what LD did with it if they ended up therre.
