I've always been fascinated by Nebulae, the sheer abject beauty of them puts me in awe of our galaxy.

That's amazing, what scope do you use? I'm in the market looking for my first owned scope - I was looking at a Schmidt-Cassegrain... as opposed to a reflector or refractor. but a bit pricey.

I have always loved looking at Nebula. I don't often get out to somewhere dark enough to capture one unfortunately (especially with how cold it is this time of year) but I do have a very good pair of binoculars I use for Star gazing that have provided me some pretty good results even with towns. I have managed to spy the ISS from it before where I was able to distinguish both side of Solar Panels which I'm counting a pretty good success considering how fast it moves across the sky.

Will have to look to spy some Nebula's myself soon.

I was lucky enough to have for my 30th birthday a Dobson Sky-Watcher Classic 250: very good and reliable.

I did a week's training at an observatory last November with this one (that's when I took the Orion Nebula picture), and all the technicians and astrophysicists present told me it was a very good instrument, whether for beginners or professionals: we used it in class to observe Venus during the day, and I even got to see its phase!

Fantastic, how portable is it? I live in a town bursting with light pollution, so I have to load up the car and head out to darker skies at the local astronomy club. I want something I can move around quickly which isn't going to require a spine operation every time I hunt comets.

Not very portable unfortunately like most "deep space" telescopes, but recently they made more portable versions ... at a cost ^^"
I'm also living near a big light pollution, filters can help Wink (even if dark skies are better, of course)
