Dear members of the UFP,
dear friends,
you will have noticed my absence.. well, at least I hope so! 
There was something going on in my private life which wasn´t very nice and pleasant. My wife needed several eye surgeries due to a torn retina which came out of the blue. All of a sudden she saw some sort of "flashes" everywhere before her eyesight completely went and was exchanged by a thick "black curtain".
Fortunately they great people at the clinic she went to were able to help her. She had to undergo a few surgeries, however, and it´s still not over, but at least there´s light at the end of the tunnel. Her retina was fixed, but her eyesight is not what it was before the incident. She´ll get a new lense in a few months time. That was the short story of everything that was going on recently.
Well, to sum it up and come to the point... during these challenging weeks I wasn´t able to concentrate on the community and on my tasks as SFA´s Deputy Commandant. I apologise for that and hope you´re not angry at me or anything. My head was just somewhere else so to say.
I´ve already informed Sunfire that I´m planning to return this week and I am looking forward to meet you all again and to get to know our new members that joined the crew whilst I was gone.

I'm sorry to hear your wife is going through that. My mother-in-law recently went through something similar, so I know how worrying and frustrating it can be. Of course personal life always comes first, so no one can really fault you for taking an LoA. I'm glad things are looking up!
