With the UFP's move from TeamSpeak to Discord, the requirement for a permanent moderator presence on the server has become evident. Whilst this is often handled by members of CL6 and CL5, a dedicated team of Discord Moderators will be recruited to help keep the Discord a peaceful and enjoyable place to be.

So, the Federation Administrative Bureau is pleased to announce the creation of a new Tier 1 position for which we are actively hiring for; Discord Moderator.

This position will exist alongside our pre-existing Global Moderators and support them in their day-to-day management of Discord allowing them to focus on forum moderation, whilst remaining an escalation point for significant issues on Discord. These Discord Moderators will work in tandem with current CL6 and CL5 holders who also have moderation rights.

We are viewing this new role as an 'entry-level' position into FAB for those who might be interested in moving into Global Moderation in the future. However, we will be requiring that applicants have been members of the UFP for no less than three months to be considered.

The tier system is used to denote the level of responsibility a certain position has:

• Tier 1 positions are 'entry-level' positions that provide basic, but essential support to the UFP.
• Tier 2 positions have more responsibility and will have more frequent and recurring tasks that are of a more complex nature than Tier 1.
• Tier 3 is the highest tier held by a CL4 member. This tier provides for the most responsibility out of the other CL4 roles and typically require having experience in a certain area. Certain Tier 3 positions may have a requirement of being a volunteer in another area for a certain amount of time before one can be considered for a Tier 3 position.

The Clearance Level system provides the basic permissions a member has, whereas the Tier system provides the level of responsibility a position has and by extension, any additional permissions.

My next question is, why is a moderator role (in the main source of communication for our members no less), considered a Tier 1 position? Isn't it the role of moderator a highly trusting, and quite autonomous role? I would have thought at least a Tier 2 position.
