Mirrors
Captain Burnham and Book journey into extradimensional space in search of the next clue to the location of the Progenitors’ power. Meanwhile, Rayner navigates his first mission in command of the U.S.S. Discovery, and Culber opens up to Tilly.

I really enjoyed this episode, was a bit sad the ISS Enterprise was abandoned, would have liked to see some Terran showdown! But it's nice they kept in line with established canon, after Spocks rise to Emporer.

It cannot, at least in the context of this story. The I.S.S. Enterprise was around for the TOS crew in 'Mirror, Mirror'...years after Strange New Worlds. They could have a Mirror Universe episode, with the I.S.S. Enterprise, but I don't see it connecting to this storyline in Discovery.

The whole ISS Enterprise bit seemed a little odd. I feel like they could have used any other ship and the story would have still worked the same. Maybe if they would have leaned a bit harder into the mirror TOS crew stories or something, but as is I felt like it was a name drop for the sake of a name drop while they used the SNW sets to shoot from this week.

Overall, I thought the episode was good, don't get me wrong. The fan service just felt heavy handed with no lasting impact...or at least none yet.

I found it ok. It was good chance to see Rayner interact with a significant portion of the beta shift crew. And I am annoyed they sent of Owosekun and Detmer as I think they make and excellent Helms and Ops team, I do enjoy seeing members Gallo and Christopher have a chance to shine.

What annoyed me a bit through the whole thing is that in the future scene we saw only last episode Discovery was covered in dust after just 20 years yet somehow after 800 the ISS Enterprise is still shinny and it's warp core is still producing some power (or other method, backup Nuclear generator? Who knows). But it bugged me the whole time. Also why does it have to be Enterprise, the only call back is that Spock sat there in Prime (which could be applied to any 23rd Century Connie class).

I would love to see it used either as a museum ship (as I presume the Fleet Museum from Pic S3 is gone) as I can't see a good reason to refit it. Discovery had the Spore Drive in a Post Burn world. They are now well past those problems and there are plenty of worlds to help build new ships.

I am glad we had confirmation that L'ak is Breen and we have seen without a helmet. And I am interested in Mal and L'ak's story. But honestly I'm loving Rayner way more than I thought I would at the start, his growth has been amazing.
