I have returned after long break from the game, and man the changes. So, I rolled a new character to get myself back into the game and get use to the changes. I have always love the Excelsior ship and used if for a long time on my other character. I also don't see that many of them flying around lately and that makes me want to build a Fleet T6 Excelsior again. I got plenty of time to work on the build as the new character is level 28.

I've done some researching on build ideas and I'm liking the Polaron Beam Array with Tachyon Beam, Tyken's Rift and/or Grav Well with fire at will. My character is an Engineer and if I remember correctly the Fleet Excelsior has a Lt. Commander BO for both Tyken Rift and Grav Well.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The Advanced Heavy Cruiser only has an LT Science BO slot, and even with a LtCdr Slot, I would still suggest picking either Grav Well (Control) or Tyken's Rift (Drain) if you're going for an optmized build, as spec'ing into both Control and Drain would mean taking points away from Tactical skills.

The Advanced Heavy Cruiser is really limited in terms of what you can do with Science abilities.

If you really want to do something with Space Wizard stuff, maybe look at the Intel Assault Cruiser, as that has a Lt.Cdr Intel Universal slot, Slap a Grav Well and a Disable Subsystem Safeties in there and laugh.

The Guardian Cruiser is also another viable option.

Thanks for the insight. I had originally thought that Grav Well and Tyken Rift was under the same category, but I stand corrected. I'm going with Tyken Rift as my deflector boost that power already. I completed some DOFF missions I had gotten from some lock boxes and those shot me up 12 ranks in 2 seconds. So, now I'm level 44, and still haven't completed the Klingon Story Arc. But, leveling has always been quick in the game from the beginning. I picked up the standard Assault Cruiser for now and now planning on the Intel Assault Cruiser as you suggested after looking of the stats of both ships.

Gear is pretty standard stuff for now until I can start going for the gear I really want.

I tried using the STO Academy build page, but it's not updated with the modifiers on my equipment. This is what I am building from. I'm thinking of maybe eventually replacing the Quantum with a wide arc torpedo or maybe the Phased Quantum Torpedo. I do know I am sticking with the Polaron Beams. I am open to re-engineering them til I get them perfect.

Quick question....I just found my T6 Kobali Samsar Cruiser. Is that ship still realivant in todays game?

The Samsar Cruiser would be a huge step up over a T5 Assault Cruiser. Here's a build I whipped up https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/...c1443cb8c5f858

The items equipped are just an idea of what you should be looking for. Since you have the Samsar, grab the Kobali set for the 4pc to improve surivability, or grab the Jem'Hadar set for increased Polaron Damage. I also included the 3pc Chronometric Calculations Set since it's a polaron based set. If you can get your hands on the T5 Assault Cruiser from the Zen Store, grab the Wide Angle Quantum Torp.

If you're crafting your weapons, you should Prioritize Pen > CrtD > DMG > Acc > CrtH since you're an Engineer.
