I would enjoy Discovery if they maybe not get into the original trek like do bring in people like Spock or the Enterprise jus tbe completely on there own I could live with that possibly but when they start bringing in those things it bugs me . maybe they are just trying to start new in hopes that the real followers of Trek will just go away so that they create a brand new following. I will still watch every ep but I am also going to do my best to block out all of the consistences otherwise it will drive me nuts. I mean those little shuttle things ( dont remember what they were calling them) seem to look exactly like what Spock used when being chased by that Romulan in the new star trek movie which is what I was referring to in an earlier post about this old new Tech being high tech for its supposed time period.

True while the design of certain things is a bit.. different. It was established in TOS episode "Court Martial" that the Constitution Class and specifically the Enterprise was at least 20 years old by then, and had previously been under the command of Captain Pike. So I can appreciate the way Discovery is handling that time before Enterprise was kirks and using established lore as far introducing the Enterprise in Discovery.

I think I'm the only one, but the Enterprise looked AND Felt like the TMP refit. Had that....look about it. Small nitpick about it.

Vulcan is just one little tiny drop in the ocean of canon that they choose to ignore....I can go on and on about every little thing of canon they broke without even having to bring up the Klingons or holodecks.
For example since we're talking about Vulcan....Sarak smirking...asking Burnham to teach Spock empathy? Vulcans being all for the destruction of Qo'nos? Long distance mind melds? We know for a fact Sarak was a Vulcan through and through, smirking is something he would never do...he wanted Spock to be as Vulcan as him...taught him to be as Vulcan as he can be. Spock also never really played with toys and such, his own mother said so...so it doesn't explain him playing around and drawing a creature to scare young Burnham. Where is Sybok? He is only 6 years older than Spock.
Even Kurtzman himself can't seem to get it right that they're adopted siblings as he keeps calling them half siblings....so how should I expect him to get canon right?

Literally explained in Spock's personal log at the end of the episode. Spock was having nightmares and his mother taught him to deal with them through drawing.
As for Vulcan's and emotions: They suppress their emotions, they aren't devoid of them. Spock himself has been shown to display emotion, even as late as the TOS movies.

Just seen the episode on Netflix. I liked Tilly. Spock has issues and draws animated dragons. Nice. lol.
I found the action shuttle sequence unnecessary with the only purpose to kill the loud mouth blue shirt.
I didn't like it nor dislike it.

Wasn't too fond of the action shuttle scene either, it felt somewhat more star warsy than star trekky (even the sound effects). I may make some enemies here now ( ), but am not generally a big fan of Tilly, she blabbers too much. Outside work at a bar, it may be alright. In a professional environment, especially ones built upon military structures, it doesn't belong. Either get her act up, or go back to the Academy. So when Stamet basically told her to shut the F up, I was like "yes, finally!"
The one thing I never understood in general though is the thought that DSC looks too modern compared to TOS, e.g. the consoles, the holo emitters throughout the ship, all other tech, etc. etc... I agree with Sul-Matuul, use the best effects that are available at the time of making a show. It'd be more weird rather to have DSC look like 1960s TOS in terms of design, after even ENT was more modern than that 90 years before DSC.
Not 100% sold yet on Burnham either throughout S1 and this episode, she does indeed always have the answer to everything. Do hope that other crew members will also get more exposure, background, etc., however it was stated from the beginning that this show would focus on one character more, and it''s not the captain. Also in a condensed format of 15 or 16 shows in a series there's possibly not too much space left for background stuff, lore stories etc., whereas other shows may have had filler episodes, but a lot of these helped build up characters as well. On the other hand in today's market, is that still a good idea / possible, in terms of marketability of a show, and retaining your audience? These days everything seems to be action action action, drama drama drama, and off we go to the next episode, rinse/repeat (not just ST), seems that is what people want nowadays? (I may be way off the mark though, it's just empirical)

So in other words...your defense to a breaking of canon...if using the media that broke the canon in the first place.
When I talked about his Mom...I mean his Mom in TOS, not Discovery. In TOS McCoy asked about Spock in childhood, his Mom said he never played with toys or even really played....she said all he really had as a child was a pet Sehlat.
This is what I mean....they completely ignore canon...this is why some people don't think of Discovery as canon, why should they think of it as canon when the writers completely ignore all canon?
Do you understand?

No, I don't understand, and I'm going to be blunt and just say it: You're nitpicking. You're basing your entire premise on one line from an episode that was written over 50 years ago before the entire universe of Star Trek had been established, and never brought up again since.
The drawing tablet isn't a toy, it's a therapeutic device in this instance, and even if it stopped being needed as such, it would be a tool for artistic expression, and in the logical society of Vulcan, I think Spock would have considered it as such.
Drawing as a therapy is also a very real thing.
I drew a lot growing up. I never considered the reams of printer paper and the hundreds of pencils I went through to be toys. I grew up in a family of artists. My mother painted and played the Violin, my grandmother was a Published Author (although her books are ♥♥♥♥e), my uncle is an amazing photographer and an even better guitarist. I understood artistic expression and what art was from a young age.
There's an expression in writing that I think perfectly applies to your argument: "Kill all your darlings". It refers to when you have a situation where what you've written before is preventing you from moving forward with an idea, or if what you've written before is getting in the way of your audience, get rid of it, ignore it, or make it irrelavent. It is a very valid practice, and as an amateur author myself, I can tell you it is a very difficult thing to do..
Absolute perfect reverence to Trek Canon by the writers of Trek would just give us more of the same from the previous series', and let's be honest that hadn't worked in the past (the financial failure of Nemesis at the box office, cancelation of Enterprise due to poor ratings, ect.).
And as Sarek and Burnam said in the episode we're discussing: "Reverence fills up the room".
To move forward you need to take risks, even if that means disrespecting things that came before.
