People wanted post Nemesis, now they have their wish.
Twice! You have the Picard series, which is post Nemesis, andnthis one which is much further into the future. Very exciting because they can do a lot of things.
A couple questions for everyone: Did they kill my space girlfriend Nhan? And did Georgiou leave the Discovery? It's going to be hard to have her star in the Secrion 31 series if she didnt.

I wonder what the future is like for the federation, i hope its not like what roddenberry had originally planned before andromeda ran with it and screwed up the execution. Although a future where the federation has either collapsed or is in severe decline does sound tempting.

I didn't like this episode. The action was very good, but the script just killed it for me.
What I liked:
1) The special effects were very good throughout the battle.
2) No borg origin story...that we know of.
3) Ending with the Enterprise and her crew seemed like a very nice tease for a new Pike captained Enterprise Star Trek show. I hope that they do it!
4) TOS end credit music mixed in at the end.
What I didn't like, in no particular order:
1) Most of the dialogue, throughout the episode. The writing is just bad.
2) Why did they have to jump to the future? Control was destroyed before they left. A lazy and unnecessary plot device, just to escape the continuity problems that they've created with Discovery
3) How the hell did just closing the blast door protect Captain Pike, let alone everything else that they were concerned about getting blown up? The saucer section was 1/4 to 1/3 gone after the explosion, but Pike could stand right there and watch Admiral Cornwell sacrifice herself!!! The ENTIRE area around the torpedo was destroyed! How is Pike still alive?!? CRAP writing to give Pike and Cornwell a moment. For that matter, why did Pike and Number One have to trade places? Waste of time. Pike may have thought that he couldn't die then and there, but if that was his thinking, he should have been the one to go in the first place!
4) I thought that the time crystal only had enough charge for a one-way trip, but Burnham can make 5 trips prior to unnecessarily taking the Discovery 950 years into the future. Doesn't anyone proof the script before they shoot the episode?!?
5) Pike's farewell to Discovery ending with...my family...UGH!!! The dialogue in this show hurts my soul.
6) All of the pauses, when time was of the essence, for emotional moments, complete with sappy, bad dialogue!
7) Discovery didn't look battle damaged at all, while heading into the wormhole. Discovery was limping out of a very destructive battle. How could she look all shiny? I don't get it.
8) I thought that Tyler wasn't allowed to show himself to the Klingons, because the Chancellor had already officially fake-killed him. Why is he barking orders alongside the Chancellor, on her ship?
9) What is the need for the super hush-hush regarding the existence of Discovery, her crew, and what happened to them? Everyone synced their story that DIscovery was destroyed. Aside from Top Secret tech, like the spore drive, what is the need to erase the rest from history, except to clean up Discovery's canon problems. How will Starfleet deal with the families, most of whom have probably received farewells from their loved ones on Discovery. Sloppy.
Random thought:
Tyler is in charge of S31 now. Did Georgiou beam off of Discovery, before it went through the wormhole, or is she going to the future? If so, is the new S31 series starring her, going to take place in the future?

I'll admit part of me hoped that this was CBS basically saying that S3 of Discovery was going to be Pike and Crew going forward. But that's not the case. I'm not sure how I feel about the ship being sent 950 years into the future and well past Nemesis. As interesting as it could be. I could see it being more of a continuity mess than we're already in.
How is a ship from 950 years in the past supposed to be relevant in such a time? I think if they would've maybe taken it to 2410 that would've been different. You could've even tied it into STO and it's continuity.
I liked the episode and how it tied things up to canon, albeit as Morris stated, very clumsily. I was very happy that they stuck to the Enterprise's Phaser beams vs Discovery's Phaser Cannons. I also still love the Discovery version of the Enterprise.
But some of the optimism that I had going into the finale was definitely diminished. I guess I'll have to wait until season 3 to see how this shakes out. But I wouldn't be surprised if CBS didn't use this season as one big Retcon and move forward with Pike and his crew. I don't know about the rest of you but Pike was the single largest improvement of this season in my opinion. I didn't want to see him go.

Things I liked:
Blue phaser beams from the Enterprise!
Visual effects on the wormholes, that event horizon looked wonderful.
Spock in the blue uniform.
Klingon arrival which elicited a HELL YEAH from me.
Tig Notaro.
Georgiou and security girl's dialogue ending in "Ewww"
Things I didn't like:
How many shuttles and other craft can two ships hold? Over two hundred apparently, I call BS and blatant copy of Ender's Game.
So none of the red angel appearances were Burnham's mom, it was Burnham all along?
Everyone is getting killed but we're going to pause and have an angst moment or a sappy moment thus causing the death of more crewmates.
Super stupid blast doors.
That's all I can think of right now, I'll have to rewatch it but overall I liked it.

I've just finished watching it and overall I'm pretty satisfied how everything was wrapped up for the season.
The one thing that I did really like was the interaction between Culber and Stamets. I don't know why but it just felt right to me.

I actually did enjoy this episode, it was a lovely prang of nostalgia to see the Enterprise having a good old fight against all the odds after all these years. Even had the original phase sounds too!
Going forward so far in time is probably a very good move to help the show find it's own identity and mark. Season 3 is more or less giving things a clean slate to develop.
