I tried the Dark Matter torp out tonight. While I'm not a huge fan of the visuals (quantum torps that are an odd shade of purple instead of blue-ish white) I'm liking it. Even if you slam the torpedo into shields, the dark matter effect appears to bypass them and stick to the target.

Yeah and it gets super powered when you pair it with Lorcas Ambition. Personally I'm gonna wait till I get T6 then I get the rep gear Discount.

How strong is the dot on it? Is it like the level of a plasma torpedoes dot or better?

I forget the values off the top of my head and truth be told I've never really used the plasma torps so I'll let Bridger field that one, he'd know far better than I would about that.

The best DoT torp is the Particle Emission Plasma Torpedo launcher. On epg builds, especially.

The best Kinetic dps torp is the Gravimetric Torpedo Launcher (also boosted by epg)

The best overall dps torp should be (on paper) Quantum phase torpedo with some drainx slotted. A

The best finisher torpedo is the Advanced Terran Torpedo Launcher. (200% damage at 25% hull with kinetic damage and tac buffs - it's gonna leave a mark)

The new torpedo is more like a support dot torpedo. It encourages continuous barrage. Don't jump on making it mk xv gold yet, cause it might also be nerfed. Let the passionate people test it properly first.

That indeed. But you still need to kill them and not die first. Which combined with the energy damage rescale (boost) of the npcs is gonna be a challenge. A solid challenge. This torpedo would work amazing with the romulan hyperplasma.
