I've been in UFP for nearly a month now and never seemed to remember to do one of these threads - so here goes:

I'm IntergalacticTowel's wife and he's my duo partner. He's also the reason I'm playing this game and not GW2 or ESO. I was getting a bit burned out on those, so he suggested we give STO another try. I'm a high school teacher by trade and love to read and discuss literature. Feel free to hit me up if you're still in HS and need tips on your essay or figuring out that novel you have to read over the break!

I've been gaming for...pretty much my whole life. Played the original Atari as a kid (boy, that dates me, right?) and most of the consoles available growing up. I have fond memories of blisters on my thumbs from those original NES controllers. I'm one of those elusive (but I swear we're real) "gamer girls".

Feel free to send me a PM in-game if you want to do an advanced run with me - I'm always up for queues (though to be fair, these days I'm a "filthy casual" and don't know all the mechanics of some of them).

Fun random fact to close with - I've tried for YEARS now to keep small plants around the house. I love plants - the problem is that despite my best efforts, I always kill them. Most recent victim - a small potted ivy.

Edit - the toons that you're most likely to see me running around on in-game are "Sinjen" and "Jiaski".

Of all the consoles, what has been your favorite over the years? I go back as far as the original nintendo, but mostly grew up on the SNES until PCs, I have used atari though.

Depends - if we're talking pure playing and enjoyment, probably the Sega Genesis. If we're talking nostalgia and hours used, then it's the original NES. I totally cheated playing Duck Hunt.

I played many an hour in the Donkey Kong series 1-3 on SNES, good and frustrating times. Still go back to it once and while usually with any friend that still has one kicking around and wants some nostalgia

I've seen the Saturday Special Forces runs - but hubby and I have avoided them simply because we're usually just putzing around on...shall we say, less than ideal ships and builds (me far more than him).

For example, up until I got the dreadnought on Sinjen, I was running around in a Hirogen Heavy because the console is HILARIOUS. I just strapped some cannons on the front and called it good, then did lots of "woo hooooo" and "wheeeeeeeee"s as I twirled my way manically through starbase one using rock n' roll and the hirogen console like it was going out of style. While those kinds of antics are fun in a pug, I didn't really think they'd be appropriate / appreciated in a more formal group.

I know 'Special Forces' makes it sound you need to be DPS God, but really it's not. Yes there are DPS enthusiasts or people wanting to improve builds but so are people just looking to do queues and have some fun community group gameplay.

But of course, as long as you and your husband are having fun on here, that's all that matters!

I won't lie - I had to look up the Colecovision console. Never had one myself, but I THINK a neighbor had one....it's a bit blurry.

I'm old enough to remember the Atari with the faux wood panelling and whatever machine ran Pong on my friend's tv. I had the Sinclair Spectrrum 48k when I was a kid in the UK. Horrible screechy loading tapes (yes, TAPES!) and the nail biting anxiety or waiting five minutes for your game to load, only to watch it crash, carrying your sanity with it.
