Well I'm a little surprised by this announcement, while I am aware the Kelvin Films aren't everyone's cup of Tea I am Quite Fond of Them, especially in regards to ship design and story potential. Maybe We'll Get Kelvin Timeline Romulans for this next installment. Also may mean now that Viacom and CBS have merged, perhaps better advertising for the film compared to the lackluster marketing Beyond got, which I rather Liked, heck maybe a Certain MMO might be utilized to bring back interest into this Alternate Timeline

Honestly I think Tarantino could have brought something quite interesting to a Trek film.
A lot of his films are very good at slowly setting a scene up with very well done cinematography and a sort of slow burn approach. I can kinda see parallels to the way TMP was done in that style; the slow gentle build up to something spectacular.
Of course his films are known for more visceral imagery too and that would certainly be a change from what has gone before but also Discovery has started to bridge that difference a little bit so perhaps not so shocking for today’s viewers.

The Possibility of 2 new films set in the Kelvin Timeline is, interesting, Kinda smart for Paramount to make the Tarantino Film a Side Story, that way Tarantino can have more liberty in regards to Character, Story and setting. Though I do wonder what the Plot for the 4th film will be, I hope its something original like beyond was and not a rehash like Into Darkness.

Wasn't the plan at the time to get Hemsworth back as George Kirk and have the Enterprise do some time travel shenanigans? Of course, that's before everyone walked away from the project so I guess anything goes.

As awesome as Hemsworth is I thjbkntbst would be playing too close to ST:IV.
Darkness was a WoK copy, Beyond was similar to SfS in that the Enterprise got blown up and crashed on some random planet. If the next film was time travel like TVH then that would get rather tedious and show an utter lack of ideas.
The next films need to be something totally different.

That would kind of kill the thrill of the TNG episode where Q introduces the audience and Starfleet to the Borg.
On another note... if 4 is a go, who is playing Chekov ?
ST Darkness to me will be never replace ST II WoK, I liked the dreadnaught in Darkness and the phaser cannon, but the carbon copy WoK was lacking depth and substance. ST II WoK already had built up so much character development from the original series that when you saw Spock die, it really hits you hard. But also, to see Khan return from the original series was like a taste of revenge from the past has returned and it was very fitting. They introduced glasses to Kirk to show the age of his character that everyone was essentially growing old and from the young folk they was when they first dealt with Khan before. You just cannot walk away from something like WoK and then rehash it with "Darkness" there is just no background to it, no character, no attachments to make you feel connected to the characters such as you would with the original crew.
Lastly, no one can ever beat Ricardo Montalbán's performance in WoK, it was perfect, his role as Khan was "personal" with Kirk, it was Ahab and the White Whale personal...

The best thing they can do is NOT replace Anton Yelchin. Just have a character mention at the beginning of the film that Chekov got a promotion and took an assignment on board the Reliant, then leave it at that.

I'm on the fence with the Kelvin timeline. Despised the fake WoK remake... but loved the dreadnaught ship. Do NOT like the Spock Uhura relationship (because it would not exist in ANY timeline).... and LOATHED the story of how Bones got his name (BECAUSE THAT'S NOT IT)... but overall loved the casting. I DID like Beyond for the most part.... and will wait in hopeful anticipation on IV! At least we will have more Trek!

I know, but it bugged me that you'd think the Borg would Notice a more advanced version of their own tech suddenly popping up on the other side of the Galaxy. I mean the Comics pretty much did answer this with "Boldy Go," but it bothered me that there were no actual repercussions with the borg showing up early to investigate.

In general, I liked all three Kelvin timeline films. The Wrath of Khan copy-paste base story is from a different point of view, and going away from that personal conflict between Kirk and Khan. The dreadnaught is the ultimate secret ship, and that should have been a S31 ship!

So the Kelvin timeline will continue on after all...fascinating. 
They were entertaining for me too Miles, I just can't get past the alternative timeline . Why do the movie people have to keep re-making things, especially in the Trek universe. There's other parts and future timelines that could be explored and introduced. We'll have to see what ST: D comes up with!
