It is exactly as dumm as I expected it to be not surprising considering Discovery.
Instead of a positive future we get a the opposite, instead of a Federation being a symbol of peace, exploration we get a society only looking at careering for itself.
This total betrayal of the vision of the Star Trek philosophy is just a disgrace, if I want to be depressed I watch the News.
I realy hope the rumors are true that CBS offered Star Trek too NBCUniversal and Seth MacFarlane.

I liked the 1st episode, had good development in regards to Picard's Character, I can see were they are going with him. A man who lost hope, purpose, motivation and institution he once held dear. Now he's got a new purpose and motivation to push on, Regain that Flame, that Vigor he once held to once again boldly go where no one has gone before.
I must admit, my favorite parts of the episode were the scenes with Picard on his vineyard with Number 1 and Laris and Zhaban. Laris and Zhaban have to be my favorite Characters so far, they are so pleasant and their interactions with picard are wholesome, I hope we get to see more of them.
Can't wait for next weeks episode.

Though I know nothing of the plotline, apparently the first 3 episodes got screened for the critics. For those of you feeling like it's a slog, I've heard things kick into motion by the end of the third episode.

So I realy enjoyed watching Star Trek Picard, because as far as I've seen now, it looks very promising, to bring the basic idea of Star Trek and the humanistic ideas back.
As well I liked the acting of Sir Patrick Stewart very well, it brings more to this charakter.
For me Star Trek Picard brings modern problems into a Sci-Fi series with action and in Star Trek Spirit. What could I want more.
But that's just my opinion.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

I have never liked the picard character but that being said I like the name of his dog because i never liked rikers character either hehe but since now Picard isnt inm Star fleet and he givces the reason as to why I think that I might start to like him .
I knew who she was the second she was in the fight and then flashed picard I realy hope the show isnt going to be that predictable the twin factor ( come in twos) did make sense though but the up coming scenes they showed didnt really do anything because i know how they usually put them a little out of context I am glad ther is more Trek content out there but I still am not going to build up my hopes that it is going to be great this is the thing that when you get older you start to notice stories repat and seem more predictable things get taken From other stories and they just change them a little.

I thought the pan out on the Cube at the end did a grand job of showing the size of those ships. We've not really had that sort of feeling before I don't think ((though the reboot films and DSC do have some similar camera pans and trickery to promote the scale of things).

This is entirely true. I guess this was also hinted in the scene with Picard where he finally lashes out in the interview and tells out "It is not the Starfleet it used to be".
There's no second doubts that Star Trek is away from the vision of Gene Rodenberry. Discovery has seen to that already.

I enjoyed it. It's utter Joy that my Treks Generation is back even if it is for Cameo's after all I loved TNG!
Patrick promised things would of changed but Picard hasn't (aging aside) I will be voting Loved it every time we put the thread up with the poll and nothing will change my mind

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Picard in the TNG uniform again - never thought I’d see it happen! I can’t wait to see the next episode.
I felt good!

Have to say I enjoyed it. Not the traditional Star Trek of the 90s that brought most of us here, though not too far away from it. Fast pace, sure, but certainly a few big theories explored. I just hope the new characters grab me too and this series isn't held together by the old TNG cast.
I also like that we're seeing a lot of Romulans, it'll be interesting how they develop them in this series. Just please nothing overly controversial.

I really liked it. Felt like the logical step forward for the TNG era crew in so much as the world around them has changed but get some of them still want to uphold the values they always lived by and enforced.
1) the Romulan empire has just fought in the Dominion Warc not to long ago so I take that to mean they probably lost a lot of ships. Plus they were always quite a militaristic empire with lots of sneaky shot ships etc so it’s not hard to guess they maybe didn’t have as many big vessels like the Galaxy class capable of mass evacuation of this scale.
2) the population at risk was several billion. Even with stuff like a Galaxy class capable of moving 10,000 people at once you can still only move around a billion people within one year (people have run the maths on this in a few places). And this was a supernova so it’s going to need people moved a long way from it, not just the next planet. As in the actual planning and negotiation of where the heck you move a billion refugees to (are other worlds just going to accept that? Look at the real world migrant situations for answers) and you’ve got even less time. Building an entire fleet was probably the only sensible option.
3) TNG set out that Data was considered a real person but a lot could change in the intervening years. Clearly the Synthetics were not as advanced and so there could be all manner of reasons why they’re rising up. I’m seeing tones of a Blade Runner here and the replicants. I strongly suspect they used Borg tech as part of the process, or some other questionable means.
Whatever it adds an interesting bit of political upheaval to the mix as if dealing with a galactic emergency wasn’t bad enough.
4) Picard has always stood up for what he thought was right. He’s resigned before in Insurrection when the Federation was going against its own principles; I have no doubt he’d do the same if he felt they were just giving up on rescuing billions of lives. This are also adds weight to why Nero was so utterly hell bent on revenge in the reboot film; if Starfleet has just given up and left his people to die no wonder he was upset. He blamed Spock for failing to do the blast but Starfleet for failing to rescue people.
5) Romulan having a bagged up cube is not too unrealistic tbh. We know from TNG you can disconnect both ships and drones from the hive. And Voyager showed it’s possible too plus that you can hide in plain sight inside a Borg ship too stuffy them. Hardly a stretch to think that the highly militaristic Romulan Tal Shiar would be willing to acquire a cube for experiments.
I really like your statements here, mate Well done!
Regarding the borg cube thingy, I was really surprised when I realized that the romulan live in a gigantic borg cube... do not understand why

it didnt really surprise me about the Romulans and the Borg cube that is because of the STO quest it only makes sense that they or someone or group would be involved with such Tech and even with out the STO quest logically sooner or later it would have happened in a sense I wonder how much of that asimulation of taking things has made the Federation greedy especially after the Voyager adventures and seven coming back to earth with all of there knowledge

Nero's ship in ST:09 was also heavily Borg-ified so there was always a strong hint that the Romulans had been up to some nefarious schemes involving Borg tech.
