To buy all the Zen ships with the consoles in this pack would cost 33,000 zen for all them ships and yes maybe you have them all, but some people don't this pack would get them all the ship consoles, ship costumes and would be able to fly the T6 ships on a new toon so the ship could be used throughout the leveling, The lockbox ships in this pack say if was sold for 3,00 zen would add an extra 12,000 zen so if you think about it that way the pack is more than worth it, I agree the most expensive pack isnt worth it but for 20,000 zen on sale is a reasonable price, id even go as far as that the 30,000 pack isnt a bad price if you dont own any of the ships

Sadly I have to disagree with you Aceman, I think you are missing something important that while yes the bundles are incredibly expensive, the premium bundle is not worth the money as its bloated with pointless consumables. The normal pack however is fairly priced considering you get ALL the consoles from each ship type (in some cases thats 3+ variants) including the traits and a brand new trait. While some of the ships missed the mark (looking at you Galaxy), 19k zen works out when you do the math.

THIS is the issue.

They have effectively said to a massive proportion of their players/customers "pay this massive price or you're sh** out of luck, and have a good anniversary"
It's insulting to be perfectly honest and clearly done intentionally to try and grab some cash.

Some people will see it as a good deal and buy it.
Some people would buy it regardless (the whales or the "gotta catch them all" crowd that does that with every new thing)
Some people will buy it because they want only one ship any are willing to pay anything for it.
Some people will buy it because they are duped by the false rarity of it being limited time only.

But a LOT of people are not going to touch this and are seriously unhappy.

A good majority of people who have been playing for a while most likely have all the ships previously. While for new players, this could be fair as it saves them fair bit of purchasing.

If anything, for those who had the previous ships and skins and what not - we should get a bigger discount.

I mean, yes, I will buy this anyway cause I'm graced with good paychecks and also because PWE/Cryptic is the sole way of me playing a Star Trek related game, but to tell or preach its fair is something I personally won't do lol.

Furthermore, 'fair' would also mean not shoving down a whole pack with a huge $$$ on it. 20K zen is still 200$ for those who will re-charge. I guess I come from humble beginnings, but I can understand how this much money can be someone's livelihood, tuition fees, or just getting by the week.

Star Trek's fanbase has always been one of larger than normal disposable income since, to be honest, and not totally tooting my own horn here, as a demographic, we have higher than average education, better jobs and make more money on average. Because of that, CBS, Paramount and now PWE (And Atari before them) sell merch at a premium price above that of merch from other fandoms save for Star Wars (especially now that Di$ney has their claws on it).

You'd need only look at the price CBS is STILL selling DS9 and Voyager DVD (not Blu-Rays, DVDs) box sets for ($136 and $99 respectively). Both those series have LONG since paid for themselves, and there's a near ZERO chance of ever getting a remastering of either show since the way they filmed the VFX makes such a task impossible with even today's technology.

Trekkies are so used to paying a premium for the stuff we love that we've become numb to it and just accept it as part of the norm, and to be perfectly frank, I'm F----- sick of it.

It's not the price. That 19k price is temporary for a few weeks, then it will be 33k.

And to be totally honest with you, telling me to save up is quite frankly insulting.

I'm a security guard, I get paid $16.50 an hour to ensure the safety and security of a multi-million dollar educational facility and the 1500 people who live in the residences. I just bought a $22,000 car that i'll be paying off for 6 years at $500/mo and my insurance for it is $216/mo. My cable bill is $210/mo that I split with my Mom (Yes, I'm 34 and I live with my mother, because rent is so high in my city that I can't afford to move out). I have a $5000 debt consolidation loan that I pay $290/mo for. I'm lucky if I have $100-200 leftover to pay for groceries, gas and MAYBE renting a movie on Pay-Per-View is an option.

On top of that, I work nights, 12AM to 8AM, and have been for 3 years, which means I have no social life outside of chatting with people on this site.

So, Please. Don't tell people to just 'save money'. You have no idea what their financial situations is like.

Alright those are fair points, the full price of the bundles is unfair and I'll be honest disrespectful to its fans to ask 33k zen. Unfortunately this is what happens with unchecked capitalism, mo money mo better. Again as I said in my last post, I understand why people are upset at the prices because it is a LOT of money to drop for virtual pixels, as I've said Cryptic missed the mark making this exclusive and limited time availability. If ships could be purchased individually then people can buy the ships they want.

Also I agree that the discount should be greater if you own the previous T6 variant of the ships in the pack, so it becomes 15k or 13k zen, that would make it more palatable. I suspect that Cryptic is making plans to move away from lockbox and promo ships in light of the EU likely banning those kinds of gambling mechanics in video games, they are probably seeing how much they could charge for future smaller bundles that contain promo or lockbox ships on the CSTORE.

I suspect that Cryptic is making plans to move away from lockbox and promo ships in light of the EU likely banning those kinds of gambling mechanics in video games, they are probably seeing how much they could charge for future smaller bundles that contain promo or lockbox ships on the CSTORE.

I totally agree with this. I believe with the bundles they will try to earn as much as they can for a period, and then throw in the store single ships or small bundles of 3 ships for example.

There's always going to be differences of opinion and disagreements about this, that and the other, but we're all friends here at the end of the day. Everyone has their opinion on this and it's not the first time we've seen something like this happen with STO (Delta Rising anyone?) nor is it likely to be the last, but regardless if you want to buy it or not, remember it's people and the community who make the fleet and the game - the shiny is much further down the list.

I agree with everyone on the packages--they're pretty fair in price if you compare to what all comes in it, but that's not the problem. The problem is for most players the packages are still going to be out of their price change for a one-time large purchase. And on top of that, they're locking away heroic ships behind this huge purchase on a game that is 10 years old with no graphical update in sight for its future.

That's why I'll be skipping it. I have no need for 10 more ships--maybe one or two, but not all 10.

This should have been sold similar to the Gamma packs, in my opinion, where there was a large package with all the new ships in it (plus more) and also a smaller package for a lesser amount that included a single ship and some additional items. I bought the $20 package Gamma pack because it was in my price range. They could have bundled 2-3 heroic ships together and sold a smaller package (multiple smaller packages) for cheaper making it more affordable for the casual gamer. This is a missed opportunity for them.
