Starfleet Academy - Recruit Support Officer
CL4 - Tier 2 (Lieutenant)

Starfleet Academy is seeking some new Recruit Support Officers to assist in continuing our work for the community.

We're currently looking for positive, active and enthusiastic individuals to help the United Federation of Planets newest members settle into our community as well as to assist with our on-going recruitment efforts across supported game forums. If you have a keen interest in the member experience, developing recruitment efforts within the UFP and supporting new members through their journey, this position could be for you!


JOB DUTIES

- Welcome new members and ensure that they are given the support they require to get the most out of their experience within the UFP.
- Provide a positive experience to all new members.
- Post in UFPlanets recruitment threads as required.
- Work as part of the SFA team to successfully draw in new members through a range of mediums.
- The successful candidates of this role would report to Enlistednut09 (CO) and Michael (XO).


JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Have been an active registered member for a period of at least 3 weeks.
- Be prepared to actively engage with new members of the UFP.
- Be prepared to actively participate in the UFP's External Recruitment Activities across various gaming forums.
- Is it a CL5 position? No

TIP: While it is ultimately up to you how you format your application, please try to include your online volunteering history, any relevant real life experience that's applicable, why you decided to stick with the UFP, why you feel you're the best person for the role and how you think it will benefit you. This is a phenomenal position to volunteer for! You get to make first contact with new community members! Also be their go-to-person for any questions they have about the communtiy, as it can be overwhelming for some in the beggining.

I'm happy I had the chance to volunteer for this position again.

If you're a people person this would be a natural position for you. Having CL4 is also a neat perk and is one way to show you go above and beyond for the community.

So basically on the recruit side of things you basically greet new members when they join and work with them for a couple of weeks, answer their questions if there are any.

On the recruitment side, we just mainly post to the STO forums and anywhere else were actively recruiting (this is done in teams ) but you'd have help with that if needed

Being a RSO can be a very rewarding position. Don’t be scared about the duties too much, it can be handled quite easily for people that are online once a day anyway and without having to spend much time in games.

I'd second that, I would have said the same although it was quite late at the time and I was on my phone. If you're looking to get involved with volunteering, I'd definitely recommend it

As a newer RSO I'll give my two cents. If you like getting to know other members of the UFP community, and letting them know you, this is a great place to do that. Being one of the first people a new community member relates with helps build a relationship that will carry on as they find their place and become more active and confident in their own right. It really is a great place to carve out your own place as a part of UFP.

As far as the recruitment stuff goes, I did mine for the first time today. It took all of 90 seconds, and involved clicking on three links Michael provided, and making three posts inviting people to check out the UFP. Nothing complicated, and extremely simple...which someone as scattered as me can appreciate.

If you're looking to become more involved with UFP because you either A.) Think it's a great group of people, B.) Think a community can add a lot more to something you already enjoy, or C.) Like hanging with people who have a shared interest and go out of their way to include others who do also, this is the perfect place to start.

That's the thing, RSO's don't need to be playing games our role is entirely forum based (like you can play games with the academy events and such, but it's not required)
