CBS officially announces Star Trek Strange New Worlds (Star Trek Pike) with Rebecca Romjin, Ethan peck and Anson Mount set to return as Number one, Spock and Pike.

I saw Anson Mount in this movie, Mr. Right, and didn't realize it was him until the credits rolled.

Looking forward to learning more about the new show. That said, with Discovery and Picard already launched, and the animated series Lower Decks and now Strange New Worlds officially greenlit plus a rumored Section 31-based show in the works, I just hope they have enough good writers lined up with the chops to keep all these shows unique and interesting.

Now this is great, a series back on the Enterprise, sign me up as interested!

Anson Mount as Pike in Discovery Season 2 was a genius bit of casting. He was so good in the role and he pretty much stole the show without even trying.

Sounds good. All three of the Enterprise leads we saw in DSC were great so it'll be nice to be back with them.

I kinda hope this will be a short limited run, so as not to get too stuck into the overarching time period and events we know are coming in the TOS period.
A nice concise, well written series would be nice.

This news made my day.

It shows that CBS is listening to the fans and like many others I think Anson Mount's performance as Captain Pike was the best part of Season 2. I'm excited to see what awaits us with this series.

I do feel there is a slight problem with diluting the market.

Hmm... I think I stay "reserved" till I see something more than just "an announcement".
Seeing how STD went thus far, it's probably the best option.

I will say, I'm super excited about this. That being said, I'm excited about all the Star Trek on TV right now. While there are good criticisms of the shows like Picard and Discovery, there are great criticisms of the originals as well. Not every episode of the "originals" are gems - there are lots of floaters as well.

Just think - decades from now our kids will be arguing that Star Trek: The Future Generation is totally not as good as as the old series like Picard and Discovery. People romanticize things as they get older.

Apparently that's the point. I remember reading a thing a few months back that CBS wants to have year round Star Trek on All Access, so presumably that means enough shows that when one season of one show ends, a new season of another begins airing shortly after. I was actually a bit surprised they weren't done with post-production of either Discovery or The Lower Decks when Picard was done.
