This thread is for the pre and post discussion of the Season 3 episode "People of Earth" - this will be a spoiler filled discussion so if you've found your way past the warnings in the activity stream and the spoiler tag on the thread, this is your last chance to turn back, or at least it will be at the end of this first post. You have been warned!
With the crew of Discovery now reunited, their attention turns to investigating the fate of the Federation and thus the current state of the galaxy at large. In the hopes of finding some answers and to catch up on the last 930 years of history, the Discovery returns to home - Earth.
You can find some promo photos of the episode here, including several of the characters in a park on Earth itself. Blu del Barrio, who portrays Adira, makes not only their Trek debut in this episode, but also their screen debut. This episode also has Trek alumni and veteran Jonathan Frakes behind the camera. As an aside note of fun facts, with Frakes recent appearance in Lower Decks, he became the only regular cast member to appear in 6 different iterations of Star Trek.
I'm quite looking forward to this one as I'm hoping we might get to see an intact 32nd century Starfleet vessel. We'll find out shortly!
"People of Earth" is episode 3 of 13.

Well this was another strong episode, kinda makes sense they would relocate Starfleet HQ off earth after the burn. Wonder if this is going the route of Foundation where the Federation has a contingency plan in place should a catastrophic event occur that cripples it. Pretty much established in trailers that Starfleet is still around, kinda makes me wonder if its really as weak as they're saying it is. Maybe they're still a potent entity but due to the burn are unable to reassert authority out of fear their remaining ships blowing up. The fact the crew of the Discovery is actively using the sphere data is welcome, I mean they have it why not use it. Ill be cackling if Starfleet new HQ is in the Gamma Quadrant or a former enemy home world.

Not gonna lie, would be funny if they Made New Khitomer Canon but thats just me throwing that out there. I am curious about that earth officers line about mostly federation ships being destroyed, wonder if it really was a way to cripple the fed and by who.

the trill kind of caught me a little off guard as I was watching I was just thinking hang on trills dont look like that when inside hosts then they explained a little just not why the trill went into the human teen host . if I remember correctly trills would make the host insane after a while if they were not trained .
my fav character is Philippa and her little pokes at Burnham and book hehe

I have actually watched this ep 3 times now and given its Friday and most will have seen or will be seeing it today will add more context to my viewing
Fave line Cake is Eternal
Fave moment when Saru assumed Captain
Adira being joined with a Trill symbiont will be interesting if they make it the Dax symbiont or maybe Odan from TNG or someone entirely new
Burnham's lighter and more relaxed approach seems here to stay
The fact that it is implied that the burn was a direct attack on the federation given it was mainly federation ships that went boom still leaves us with lots of questions.
