Ok guys, I know I am quite at the moment as I am heavily medicated and suffering with my health but I am still here. I've been on for at least 1 of every time zone and ufp chat is normally quite and so is discord.

So!! Here is my question to you all. What can I PERSONALLY do to get more interactions with in the fleet? would you like events? for example DPS? Build Discussions? anything really?

What I want is to increase our numbers for our TFO on Saturdays, we also have Mentioned User Miles running R.A.F - Red Alert Friday. I normally try to run a DPS League night during the week too (when I'm not so spaced on med) so why not come join us?? if you wanted to do something different again say and come join us on discord. it would be awesome to actually talk to some of you!

I like the weekly TFO runs - real life often prevents me from attending unfortunately... but especially ones with a theme, however informal and optional. Just gives me that extra incentive to attend and try a new ship / uniform to match the theme (Terran universe, Borg, Klingon... whatever).

Same with the occasional 'different' events - like a hide and seek or fleet photo.

Build discussions I personally am not much into, because usually they are way too specific (or - and I realize this sounds like a contradiction), too 'generic' and 'expensive' for me. For me, learning about one simple aspect about my build that I can work towards improving (like 'swap out console x for y' - even if I need to earn y first) would work best. But then Im basically asking others to make my build for me, which does not seem fair

I used to run a hide and seek event occasionally. We'd pick a faction neutral map that was small to medium sized and then nominate a seeker. Everyone else was given 1min 30sec to hide somewhere on the map using geometry and emotes or even trying to blend in. (Hiding inside objects so you couldn't be seen was a big no no for obvious reasons) Then after the 1m30s hiding period the seeker would then try and find those hiding, first to be found was the seeker next round and we'd continue until we'd exhausted spots on the map or wanted a change of scenery.

I'd often ask people to wear some kind of identifying clothing on their costumes (i.e bright red hat etc.) to make it easier on the seeker as we had a rather ingenious method where people were able to blend into NPC groups fairly effectively.

For combat missions what about running events where you’re only allowed to use low end ships?
T2 runs, T3 runs etc. The limited firepower leaves you with only your wits and piloting skills to keep you safe!

I think it's also important to remember that not everyone one can or wants to be on Teamspeak; so comms need to be both verbal and written. At least with the TFO channel we have that's nice to use, but remember to use the main chat channel to make people aware if players are needed for something.

I've been thinking about it some more - and I think part of the problem is that STO does not really seem to push group content at all (especially when compared to other MMORPGs). Any 'dailies' can easily be done solo and any of the elite TFOs don't really offer any in game reason for running them. No unique, powerful loot to collect or grind. And even for those, there is not a lot of actual team work or a 'balanced team' required - just some people with higher dps and someone who knows how to tank.

So really its the 'social' aspect mostly, which is why (I think) themed events and silly things like the pre-UFPAC gatherings (UFP ice racing anyone? ) gather the most attendance. And you can't really do those often or they lose their appeal.

Anyway, some good stuff in the thread, glad to see some engagement.

I personally would love to see a Romulan themed event, partially because I have the Valkis lol. But there are a lot of cool ships in the Romulan fleet like the D'deridex, Mogai/Valdore, T'liss, Ra'nodaire, and MW Warbirds.

I think we can still fly T6 ships but we limit what equipment we bring. For example, we could limit weaponry to standard weapons you already get when you purchase the ship and add a restriction to major DPS consoles like plasma storm.

I still think there's plenty of low end ships to enjoy for low tier runs. I done many T1-2 runs of maps like Counterpoint where we only used the T2 Nova, or the starter Miranda class. You usually can't get optional objectives and you will die a lot but it's perfectly doable in low end ships. And I think everyone probably has access to at least some low end ships.

Personally I think too much of the content in STO is a pushover in T6 ships; to get people really engaging you need to come up with new ways to play. Nobody wants to go and build a whole new ship setup for a T6 just to meet different gear requirements but we can all slap together a powerful but limited T2 build with our existing max level gear.

this is all awesome and helpful info, as for people not wanting to be on comms of course that is fine, but it would be nice if more where too, that was all i am saying there. but as for game chat that wouldn't or shouldn't ever stop and tbh we've all been guity of ignoring it at some point lol.

While Team speak use isn't compulsory its helpful even if you cant chat you have the option to listen and use the text chat on it and be part of whats going on we have a few who currently use it like this in the event runs when they can get on and it helps a fair bit both the team they are in and also the person who is on in that manner.

As someone who has a busy household i understand that can put people off for that reason and it used to for me but the text option the push to talk and so on and more recently the noise cancellation mic and software i have makes it more usable if you have to use it like that the only thing i would say is let people know and that way your good.

I will add Teamspeak the last few months has seen an increase on people on it for STO and its been a good thing to see some weekends the events are busier than others and that's a good thing also the increase in Spec ops staff is to facilitate the need to see more events that the people who can not make the weekend runs can start to eventually see some runs in times they may be able to join Miles has facilitated a Friday run at the moment to test the waters on this.

Runs with low tier ships is fun and challenging. T2-T3 for normal TFOs or T3-T4 for advanced, is something that we can try. Keep an eye on the events page in the near future.

I'm sure every Spec Ops Commander are aware how to run an event using both text chat and voice to insure inclusivity. Most of the Commanders only opt to become one after having been regular to event themselves and liking what it is, so this isn't something in my opinion something that needs a 'reminder' or to 'remember'. I'm quite happy how all STO Staff and Spec Ops are running things.

I do like to see the Battle Bridge with people and did like seeing it with people even off the event days. So if Specs Ops want to cultivate TS3 activity and encourage people to see how fun it can be, as rightfully point out, STO doesn't really have much incentive towards endgame other than enjoying it with each other, people are missing out on the TS Comms side of this equation. It can be hilarious and awesome just talking to community members while playing the game.

I plan to join these events myself but they clash with my current events :/
