This has me thinking, I know I know haha. Another question: I have a Romulan toon currently scheduled for life in the Dinaes Warbird Destroyer The freebie lifetime sub award ship.
I was going to upgrade to the Fleet version when able also. My question is this, would the Lethean Nemosin Pilot Escort perform better or would either work just as well? Thanks for the input!

It depends on your build goals. Pilot escorts like this KDF science-leaning version can be fun (or annoying) to fly with the pilot mechanics, and the 5/2/1 weapons layout is generally more favorable for a DEW build, but pilot specialization powers are all very "meh" and frankly needs a revisit worse than Intel and Command needed it. The IGW trait it comes with is decent for a control-heavy build since it gives 100% uptime on gravity wells, which may or may not be useful depending on build goals. Also, Lethean ships are faction-locked to KDF unless you have cross-faction flying unlocked, so that may be a consideration too. There is a Dewan "toilet brush" version (ROM) and Andorian version (FED) of the same platform to consider as an option too if space barbie isn't a driving factor here.

The Dineas is old, but with a Lt. Commander Command seat you could chase either a DEW or Kinetic build with it, making it a bit more versatile overall to build out different ways. The 4/3/1 weapons layout isn't quite as good for DEW as 5/2/1, but it would work fine for a torp/mine focus and the trait off the Dineas is ok for torps if you don't have some of the pricier meta options for that type of build.

The Dineas also has the easily recognized Romulan design from a space barbie angle, whereas the Lethean ships frankly look more Star Wars than Star Trek. You don't necessarily see either ship a ton in game these days, but you will stand out more in a Lethean ship since the design language isn't as ubiquitous, since outside of the 3 STO pilot escorts, Lethean ships don't really exist anywhere but all Romulan ships look bird-like.

It depends do you want to chase DPS or just a casual player. For casual playing even a T5 ship is good enough to do good DPS and be able to handle all content in STO.

I see. I don't foresee myself being a DPS chaser, but I think I would like to be able to do Elite level stuff. I'm probably overthinking it.

Super cool, appreciate all of your feedback. I really like the look of both ships, and I do have cross-faction unlocked, so I can fly the Lethean. I would upgrade the Dineas to the fleet version if that makes any difference. With this info, I will likely steer towards the Lethean as I would like to do a DEW build since my main is a Torp/Sci. Some of the Dineas abilities are hard to pass up though, the Tactical mode and battle cloak are very nice.

Indeed, the ship is not as important as the gear and the pilot skill of the player but don't worry with a good teacher it is a piece of cake.

I've been looking at making something similar in either the Legendary Defiant or the Terran Adamant. I just don't feel I can justify that credit outlay on Duty Officers for one character on my account.
I'd be tempted to try this on any of my Fed, Rom or KDF characters which have the DPRM though.

I've been looking at making something similar in either the Legendary Defiant or the Terran Adamant. I just don't feel I can justify that credit outlay on Duty Officers for one character on my account.
I'd be tempted to try this on any of my Fed, Rom or KDF characters which have the DPRM though.

You could still crank out pretty respectable performance without the Borg doffs, which in this case would set you back over 1 billion EC at current exchange prices for the 2 mentioned here. You just will have a little bit lower crit ceiling, but shelling out enough EC to buy a lockbox/promo ship for a couple of doffs is probably the last thing you'd want to chase as far as optimizing your build. They help in terms of overall min/maxing your build, but all things considered they probably have the worst cost/benefit ratio of all the things in this build so if you are missing other things in the loadout, consider chasing those first.

The answer to that question is very easy: More than enough DPS for all the content in the game.

I set a new record of 868K with a slightly modified version of this build without DPRM and the older Energy Weapon Doffs still get the Job done. This is more or less the best CRF Build I can do on a CRF-Legendary Defiant.

Agony Redistributor, Neutronic Eddy Generator, and Tholian Webspinner Array all got nerfed when they dropped the latest mission. Agony and Webspinner both got nerfed into the ground and aren't worth slotting anymore, and the eddies are now ok-to-good instead of being super powerful like they were.
