Hi everyone.
As you all know we lost a friend recently and it's been especially hard as he was such an active part of our community and while he was fighting Cancer he was always giving us updates on the fight, even while he was losing. From what I understand Taku lived alone, had no partner or children and pretty much only had his mother and us for support, oh and this one Nurse called Lisa whom he enjoyed seeing during his treatments! So we organised a Vigil in his favourite game. we talked about him and our memories of him for almost 2 hours, those that didn't know him very well still had such nice things to say about him just based on limited interactions on the forum. the turnout was fantastic and the whole thing was tasteful and in the spirit of our community!
We wanted to Honour him in such a way that he will always be a part of the community, it started with changing his UFP account to retired admiral
and during his memorial yesterday, 18th of march 2023 we decided on two things.
1) that the Research Station in the UFP main fleet was to be renamed to Taku Station.
2) that we change the name of the 2nd KDF fleet House of Kur'land to House of Taku as he mainly played KDF aligned characters.
This way no matter which side of the game you guys play, he'll always be there either helping fleetmates with the combat boosts and fleet credits gained from the research holding or providing a home for your KDF aligned alternate characters. and if you don't play STO,
Taku will always be a part of the UFP gaming community site.
Thanks for everything Taku, we will miss you but you will NEVER be forgotten. This last bits for you buddy!

A very fitting way to honour a man who dedicated so much time to the community, Sorry I could not make the memorial my son had come home for the first time in a while from London and everyone had descended onto my house so the environment was not conducive to getting online to join in. I am pleased that he had a good turnout and massive respect for all who managed to attend to pay condolences to him.

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend last night for the gathering, was good to see so many folks again turning out for Taku and also to everyone else who are remembering him in their own way.
He'll be missed, but his legacy will now stand for everyone to see, past, present & future in the years ahead.

Thank you everyone for turning up last night. It was wonderful to sit in chat and hear all these stories about Taku. I may have interacted with him very little due to me being a new member of UFP but I enjoyed hearing about the older members memories of him greatly. As I said last night, this is a fitting tribute to him on both sides.

A beautiful tribute to man taken too soon.
His war with cancer is over, and his next journey to the great beyond has begun. Perhaps one day we will all meet again at the 10 Forwrd in the sky.

Sadly I didn't make it to the memorial service, so I'll just post this here if that's all right.
I don't do well in these situations, but this isn't about me, it's about Taku. I really hope the people here remember Taku, we were his tribe and he was ours. McCoy's philosophy on the matter I believe to be true, "as long as we remember him."
