How you first got interested in Star Trek: My step brother got me interested when TNG premiered as he was 10 years older than me and was a fan of ToS. Ever since then, I have been a huge Trek fan. I went to the Vancouver convention a while back and have been to Vegas once. Have another trip to Vegas booked for 2024 and will be attending the convention and embarrassing my wife every chance I can get with possible cosplay.
Your favourite Star Trek character: Tough one. I like many DS9 characters. Major Kira is a standout. I thought here development was quite good and Nana is a great actress.
Your favourite Star Trek episode: Duet (of course). I also like any episodes with a lot of ships pewpewing each other.
Your favourite Star Trek movie: Undiscovered country
Your favourite Star Trek series: DS9 by a long shot
As for the game, I am still levelling. Taking it slowish to learn the mechanics and enjoy the story for once. Most MMOs I have played I just rushed to max and had no idea what was going on lore wise. I played WoW since Cata and still have no idea what the general story even is. I bought a Gagarin and now a Ra'ondaire Carrier and working on learning their play styles as I level. I might...might get the Lexington as well for a more "medium ship" but I have learned if I dont throttle my spending on new games I play, it can get out of control quite fast. I did a lot of research before choosing those 2 ships and I realize they are not optimal from a min/max perspective, I loved the gameplay vids I saw and they are both gorgeous ships. I play a Romulan aligned with the Federation. I am a little lost on some of the deeper aspects of the game but learning a little each time I play. Also doing to reading on reddit etc.

Welcome, you can go as slow as you want or as fast in STO if you have any questions on anything ask no matter what it is always someone has an answer.
There is plenty of help and build guides in forums and weekly events that you are more than welcome to come to new members are always welcome and don't be worried about not being the best at it or being unsure of the items running the events will always help and advise

If you don't want to chase DPS counts there is a large part of the community who just play to look cool while flying their ships around where I fully understand the ship choices they make as they look very good for that sort of thing.
