    Coltello upscaling is truly amazing. Only way to be better would be to re-scan the 35mm original footage but I doubt that's going to happen Sad

    Honestly yeah its amazing what folks have been able to do with upscaling, I think the original 35mm or the negatives for TNG and DS9 have been lost which is why we’ve never seen a full 4k remaster, that or its just too costly for the return they’d get

    Really? I thought TNG was remastered by digitally scanning the original 35mm film but it's been sometime I read that so I'm not sure. As for not remastering it to 4k I think CBS just considered it not necessary since a true fully remastered 1080p image is already amazing hence TNG.

    I might be misremembering. In all honesty its been a while since I've looked into the reasons, I think it was financial for DS9/Voy remasters that a lot of fans have salivating for.

    Exactly and TNG remaster didn't make all the money CBS hoped for so that's another reason why we haven't got DS9/Voy remasters.

    It's not that they've been lost, it's that they don't contain the VFX shots, as those were composited on videotape as a cost-saving measure starting with Season 3 with the start of Voyager, and those shots are too low resolution to be enlarged the same way they did for TNG.

    If they went the same route as they did with the TNG remaster, they'd have to redo the VFX from scratch.

    AI upscaling is sadly the only way we are getting HD versions of DS9 and VOY, at least for the time being.

    While I own the two series on DVD, I keep the 1080p Upscales on my media server.

    I'd really like to see a DS9 remaster, but from what I've read, the original source material is lost. DS9 was my favorite series.
