[Announcement] - New Head of Community Experience & Starfleet Personnel Office

Over the past year, FEO have been listening carefully to feedback that you submit to us via the Roll-Call survey, through submissions via the "Contact Us" portal, and through your CL5 leadership teams. A considerable amount of this feedback seems to focus on how you, the membership, feel with regards to your experiences within the community. There is obviously a lot of positive, but we should not overlook the negatives that have also been expressed. To that end, FEO has determined that a significantly important piece of the puzzle is not being addressed properly - the Member Experience.

With a few noteworthy exceptions, the vast majority of the process is just left up to your CL5 divisions to handle all of this with virtually no direction or support. Whilst we commend the work that our CL5 teams have done up to this point, we accept that more needs to be done and support provided. With that in mind, FEO has determined the three core areas that must be addressed:

Recruitment
Engagement
Retention

All of these areas are vital to our sustained existence and growth as a community, but not one of these areas is the priority purview of anyone in any position of leadership within the UFP. We all agree they need to be dealt with, but usually as a secondary task to our day-to-day management of our own individual areas of responsiblilty. This is not a case of attributing blame anywhere, but a realisation that all of us from both FEO and SFC have just taken for granted that these things will just handle themselves without undue effort.

Therefore, FEO is pleased to announce the formation of the Starfleet Personnel Office as of today. This department will be managed by an FEO-level CO (and an FEO Deputy XO) to showcase the importance that this department's responsibility has. They will have a broad remit to work with all the established Divisions and Departments within the UFP to support their activities in the three core areas mentioned above, as well as produce and manage policies, initatives and projects aimed at improving the overall Community Experience.

To that end, FEO are proud to announce that the first ever Head of Community Experience will be none other than our venerable Novalance. He will be stepping up to assume the mantle of making sure that you - our members - are not only listened to, but feel as appreciated and valued as we believe you are.

Over the coming months, you can look forward to changes in the areas around Recruitment, Engagement and Retention coming out of the Starfleet Personnel Office as it settled into it's role as the UFP's Premier Member Experience Department.
