Brief introduction (Maybe not so brief)

Hello. It's been a while since I wrote an introduction for myself so here it goes.

I am currently the second-in command of a small fleet in STO called Starfleet SWAT, with Mike@CptMike86 as fleet leader.

As you can see from my avatar, I am a fan of Stargate. Though the first science-fiction series I remember watching from an early age was TNG but also watched Stargate and I guess Stargate stuck with me more than Trek. Still, I watched TNG when they were in re-runs and as I got older I watched VOY and ENT whenever a new episode aired.

Aside from sci-fi, I'm a casual gamer. The first game I played online was SWAT 4 in co-op and it was there that I met fellow gamer CptMike86. We spent many hours in that game until the clan he was in was slowly declining in membership and closed down their servers for SWAT 4. (Now that I think about how long ago that was, I feel old. )

Other games I like are Halo, Company of Heroes, Left 4 Dead 2, Grand Theft Auto 4, and possibly countless others I've played but forgot about.

That about sums it up I guess. If I go any further, I'll end up thinking about things long in the past and feel much older than I do already.

Welcome to the forums! I have always enjoyed the Stargate Series, but oddly enough could never get into any of the television series except for Atlantis. Which one was your favorite?

Glad to see you made it over here Admiral O'Neill, don't worry about feeling old, we all get a lil' older every day . But thinking on |SOG| days, does make me realize how fast time is moving now-a-days. You just have to be like the Borg and adapt!

You still need to run through DS9 . Aside from ENT, DS9 I hesitated to get into until I watched re-runs and it turned out to be my favorite neck and neck with VOY. (I do enjoy all the series though of course, and thanks to Netflix run through them all still )

Ah another fan of Stargate. I enjoyed almost all three series (SGU left something to be desired..) and is likely my second favourite Sci-Fi series . Welcome.

Welcome to the site O'Neill! Nice to have you roam the site. I also am a big fan of Stargate SG1. Though I didn't mind Atlantis, it started to feel repetitive of the first series. I though SGU had some potential but it was indeed squandered specially when they starter to "site home" and such. I felt it demonstrated lack of creativity at the writer level but anyway I do miss the franchise. You felt the SG1/Atlantis actors had a good working relationship and it showed in their work.

It's a shame what happened with SGU. First season was a total loss, but the second wasn't that horrible; the ending made me wish they'd do a sequel film or something to wrap things up, but that's not going to happen, and it's incredibly disappointing the relative failure of SGU resulted in the Atlantis films getting scrapped.

Don't wish to change the topic of the thread here but just to say, I think quite a few SGA fans knew there weren't going to be any SGA-oriented films, they were just saying that to keep the fans quiet at that time.

Welcome to the forums O'Neill! I too am a Stargate fan.

I really enjoyed Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis (I have all the seasons on blu-ray!). I would have loved to see some Atlantis films continue were season 5 had left off, although SGU was an abysmal failure in my eyes ending hurting the franchise massively hence why the films were cancelled. Have you read any of the books by chance?

Welcome aboard, General...I mean...O'Neill. SG1 was pretty good, at least from what I recall seeing, and I did enjoy SGA. Never watched SGU, though. In any case, it's nice to see other people that also dig Stargate.

My favorites out of the Stargate series would probably be SG-1 and then Atlantis at a very close second. Atlantis would have tied for first if the writers hadn't messed around with Lieutenant Ford's character development. I think Ford's character had potential and the writers messed up.

SG:U, I have mixed feelings on that one. It felt like it was trying to be a "BSG/VOY" hybrid of some sort. I haven't seen much of BSG, only short clips on youtube. Towards the end, SG:U seemed like it was on the path to redeeming itself but by then the network executives already decided to pull the plug. I would have liked to see at least one more season of SG:A or a movie instead of SG:U. I guess the network executives actually thought it was a good idea to produce this:

Funny as an in-show joke, not so funny when it's produced for real.

Indeed, that's why I like these two shows. Oh, I see you like "The Last Ship". I like it too, even named a Vesta after DDG-151 in STO.

I can't agree more. One of the few disappointments I have with Atlantis.
