[Patch Notes] - 29 SEP 2020

We will be performing shard maintenance on September 29 from 7-9:30 AM Pacific (14:00-16:30 UTC).

General:
• Ongoing additions to help improve rubber banding and latency issues.
• Added Binding Filters to search options.
• Optimized various UI elements for performance.

Special Events Beginning 29 SEP 2020:
Bonus Marks Week
• Content that provides Marks (Fleet or Reputation) will reward a 50% (1.5x) bonus above normal amounts.
• This Event ends on Tuesday, 06 OCT 2020 at 10:00AM PT (19:00 CEST)

Galactic Red Alert
• All Red Alerts will be running at once

○ Borg Red Alert
○ Elachi Red Alert
○ Tholian Red Alert
○ Nakuhl Red Alert
○ Tzenkethi Red Alert

+ The Tzenkethi Red Alert will not grant a Daily Progress Point if the TFO is failed.
• During this event, successfully completing any Red Alert will grant one Daily Progress Point.
• Earn five Progress Points and collect:

○ One Ultimate Tech Upgrade

+ Set Tech Points to Maximum
+ Set Research to Maximum
+ No Dilithium Cost
○ One Captain's Specialization Point
• There is a prorated Zen buyout option available.

○ The buyout starts at 1,000 Zen and decreases by 200 Zen for each Progress Point earned.
• Captains must be level 50 or higher to participate.
• This Event ends on Tuesday, 06 OCT 2020 at 10:00AM PT (19:00 CEST)

What exactly is this? Does it mean you can filter by account/character bound items?

That's how I am interpreting it. Nice to see they are still looking at quality of life enhancements, but I wonder how many people are actually using the filters. I usually forget they are even there.

So if by "improve" rubberbanding, they actually meant make worse, they succeeded

Yes. The new options are:
•Binding

○ Bound to Account
○ Bound to Character
○ Unbound

Now if we could just get those bartenders to give us Salvage along with the EC...

And I was like stuck to the console I was infront of when I spawned. I wasnt spawned into it either, I was a bit away from the console, but no matter what direction I ran in, I instantly was put back to my previous position. And then I was randomly halfway across the room I was in . However, it does seem to be temporary for me at least. After about 30 seconds to 1 minute of being on a character, it miraculously seems to stabilize, but we'll see when I have more time to play.

Just run a Tholian RA and it was impossible to fly my ship. It was rubber-banding like crazy and half my abilities were misfiring. Also I noticed a lot of my weapon FX just weren't rendering at all.

Oddly enough I just a KSA and while there was some intial lag it seemed to stablilised a lot quicker and didn't notice any misfiring.

Ongoing additions to help improve rubber banding and latency issues.

My current point of view on this:

- No rubber banding in sector space travel
- KSA run, OK
- Loading times & map transfers take more time than usual.

Yeah, I haven't run much. They seem to maybe have traded rubberbanding for simple lag in processing command activations, but seems like even that is short-lived like maybe something is just buffering or background patching. The bigger test will probably be when the new content launches and people jump in for that. The Red Alert probably won't draw the same crowd and strain the server much.

Just waiting for the release of a statement from Cryptic to say that those aren't rubberbanding issues, they're a new feature called "random, locally based, temporal micro anomalies."
