I really like this episode, it was a fascinating look into Trill society and how the relationship between symbiont and host works. Interesting that Symbionts can fuse with human hosts which kinda poops on the Odan story from TNG, but I can overlook that minor detail since Discovery added in potential explanations as to why Riker and Oden were incompatible.
But it was a nice callback to the DS9 story arc where we learned that more Trill were able to be joined than was known since there wasn't enough symbionts to go around. Overall I really liked the episode and the how the Sphere data played a role in help Saru try to bring his crew together.

Its interesting seeing how each former Federation member world is holding up. I guess despite their strife the Trill haven't been subjected to the same hardships as earth since they were more welcoming of discovery. I do wonder how the other quadrants are faring, I especially wonder how the klingons are faring since we haven't seen any, would be hilarious if the federation discovery finds is more militant and has abandoned their ideals and the klingons, who were supposed members by this time remained true believers.

Nah all that shows is Riker was incompatible just as if someone may or may not reject an organ transplant. many reasons why Adira accepted it when he never we currently still have little to no background on her is she fully human or mixed still so much we dont know about her. I thought when we seen them that guardian xi would have been the one to be the aggressor and not Commissioner Vos.

Great episode, was interesting how they got Adira's symbiote memories re-connected. Quite a different event then how Jadzia was able to meet her former hosts. I like how Adira stayed connected unknowingly with Gray, like the time Ezri had to focus on just using Joran's memories, at least Ezri knew what was occurring, I'm sure in time Adira will figure it out.

Awesome episode and a nice slow one too. It gave us a chance to get some proper time with various crew members;; and we even had a sit-down meeting! (though only with the doctor & captain).
The Trill background added lots of cool details to their species and the way they showed the "link" with past memories was pretty cool. I'd imagine if DS9 had the budget back in the day maybe they'd have gone down a similar route with Dax but as she was much more in tune with her hosts it was easy for her to access each memory.
I'm glad Dax didn't get mentioned actually as that would have made the galaxy seem too small. It's centuries since DS9's time and there have clearly been thousands of Trill hosts in Starfleet; no reason to name-drop her out of all the thousands because it would have felt a bit forced I think.
Memory Alpha says around 50% of Trill biologically "can" accept a squid....but that doesn't mean they are all going to be useful or acceptable hosts. The symbiote itself has a say we now know so that would reduce the available hosts even further.
That also adds to the TNG episode as well because whilst Riker (and surely any other biologically compatible species now) could take the symbiote if it didn't accept the connection it would not work out. That's probably why it was never tried before and generally assumed to be impossible.
Adira's past connection to Grey meant he accepted her as his/her new host despite the species difference.
The sphere data suddenly hoping into Saru's computer discussion was cool. I really hope we end up with Discovery itself becoming a character with this new sentience.
I'm also wondering if the replacement for Stamets to fly the spore drive might just end up being the ship itself; that data and emerging intelligence must be incredibly powerful.

I liked the episode. However, there are to things to mention:
One fact I found a little bit strange:
How did they know where Trill is? Did they download data from the Federation base?
While I liked the sentience of Discovery through the merge with the Sphere data, I‘m getting very strong Andromeda vibes. Actually, the whole setting of season 3 is pushing more and more in this direction.

there were Trill in TOS era. but i feel the whole Symbiote thing was kept a secret until TNG. Also the Sphere data would have Trill's location most likely. Dax remembers meeting with McCoy in her past. so they were a known species.
