SURVEY: SFO 'Addtional' Fleet Names

Greetings all,

Disclaimer: This is just a simple survey. This survey doesn't mean that the discussion is indicating towards a change for a near future or ever to happen. This survey is simply for learning where the community sentiment lays.

Now that we have that out the way, I would like your input regarding how we have named our additional fleets in the SFO. By this I mean "2nd Fleet, 3rd Fleet & 4th Fleet".

I want to see if people would want to have something more than just 2nd, 3rd or 4th fleet - maybe give them a squadron name. For example;
UFP 2nd Fleet -> UFP Red Squadron

If the above is what you like, I'm looking for suggestions for a set of names for entire 2nd Fleet, 3rd Fleet & 4th Fleet set names. I'm also attaching a poll to gather the sentiment for consideration. I'm attaching a format here as well to post your suggested fleet squadron/battalion names.

While I don't mind their current names, if there were to be name changes, perhaps after the quadrants:

UFP 2nd Fleet: UFP Beta
UFP 3rd Fleet: UFP Gamma
UFP 4th Fleet: UFP Delta

Or perhaps after some of our favorite Captains (The order wouldn't actually matter):
UFP 2nd Fleet: UFP Sisko
UFP 3rd Fleet: UFP Janeway
UFP 4th Fleet: UFP Picard

Interesting idea.

I have no issue with the names changing or staying the same tbh.

I do think though it could be fun to have one fleet become a themed "Mirror Universe" fleet just for fun, perhaps with alternative uniform options for players with members in there. Quite a few people enjoy creating a character to a theme and it would be rather fun to have a Terran side of the community fleets with officially sanctioned uniform.
The art guys could even develop an alternative fleet logo for it.

Not that it would indicate who was in the fleet or that they had any specific role, but what about something like,

UFP-Section 31
UFP-Diplomatic Corp
UFP-Temporal Strike Team

As mentioned above I do like the idea of:
UFP 2nd Fleet: UFP Beta
UFP 3rd Fleet: UFP Gamma
UFP 4th Fleet: UFP Delta

but here me out, Star Trek related fleet names:
UFP 2nd Fleet: UFP Red Squad
UFP 3rd Fleet: UFP Reserves
UFP 4th Fleet: Happy Bottom Riding Club (thanks Will Riker!)

My opinion is that fleet names remain as it is. It's more Star Trek canon, as fleets are numbered.

You are free to suggest canon fleet numbered names, like how they had in DS9. But, noted as well!

I'm always open to discuss changes to the Fleet and Armada structures.

I don't know if we could maintain themed Fleets though. Say, a Romulan Fleet, or a Mirror Fleet, a TOS Fleet, etc... But I would be willing to try it if there is enough interest.

One thing that we would have to look at if we set up themed Fleets is membership. Would the current membership limits still apply if the Fleets are given 'Roles' within UFP. If, for example, UFP 4th Fleet becomes a Role-Playing TOS Fleet, will members of that Fleet be limited to 1 main character? What about members that are not role players? But that's a specific situation.

If we're thinking about changing the names just to change the names, then I would assume that the membership limits wouldn't change. 1st Fleet would still be limited to one character per person, and 4th would be unlimited.

If we are simply changing names for the sake of changing names, then I might suggest:

UFP 1st Fleet: UFP
UFP 2nd Fleet: UFP - Tactical Command
UFP 3rd Fleet: UFP - Exploration Command
UFP 4th Fleet: UFP - Logistical Command (Logistical sounds better than Reserve Fleet or Fleet Full of ALTs)

Or something generic like that.

We do not have canon Fleet names.

There are no 1st or 4th Fleets. There are 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th Fleets (According to Memory Alpha).

UFP Alpha Fleet
UFP Beta Fleet
UFP Delta Fleet
UFP Gamma Fleet

I think the name of the 1st Fleet is going to stay UFP, just to keep the Iconic name.
