Kerry Malone: That's a testiment to the hard work of everyone within FAB, from the Global Moderators, to the Discord Team, to the Graphics guys. Everyone's contributions help to make FAB just that extra fabulous and I really thank them for their hard work!
Solace: I’m very proud of our staff, they work tirelessly behind the scenes helping keep the community ticking over. They deserve more kudos and accolades than I can possibly express in this comment.
It's hard to say who deserves more sympathy Kerry or Solace considering the daily effort it must take to deal with each other. Yet, despite the challenges, they manage to do a commendable job.
Kerry Malone: Pretty sure it's me who needs the sympathy putting up with Solace all the time. Somehow, despite his Solace-ness, we get things done, but it's more in spite of his existence than because of it...
Solace: Ignore this guy ^ above me, I am abused by him. He always leaves empty crisp packets and plates of half eaten food everywhere! He gets the corner office with a nice view while I get shoved under the stairs like Harry Potter. Yes he even jumps on the stairs to make dust fall on my desk… but despite all this we work well together somehow!
Generally I approve of the FAB but the @everyone pinging on Discord is getting a bit too much. Especially since only very limited departments even have the ability to do so (in announcements). Please consider posting news there without a @everyone ping all the time.
Kerry Malone: So I do want to tackle this particular feedback. Generally speaking, only important community announcements get an @everyone ping, because we know how very annoying they are. However, the specific situation you are referring to was during a significant server outage and our Tech Team were doing regular status updates via the announce channel using @everyone to make you all aware of the ongoing situation with the loss of UFP services.
Since then, we have addressed this, and there is now a dedicated #website-status-alerts channel that does not utilize the @everyone ping. Those pings will once again only be reserved for critical community announcements.
Solace: This is a very valid piece of feedback, I myself have been guilty of pinging @everyone for announcements, we’re addressing these concerns and reduce the amount of ping spam and only to use them for critical announcements. One of these steps to remedy this is a dedicated channel for website alerts.
