As some of you may be aware, I have historically been one of UFP's roleplay guys on and off since I joined back in 2010. I ran an entire division dedicated for roleplay including simming (text-based collaborative writing game), RPG-X, and STO RP. While I don't play the latter games anymore, I am still quite engaged and interested in text-based forms of creativity, such as simming. But I say all this for general context.

Part of my role in the past was to host and coordinate our Short Story competitions. And now that I am back, with a general "ok" from FEO, I plan to bring them back. They will likely be every other month or quarterly, depending on timing, and they will switch back and forth between themed (a specific Trek or sociopolitical theme) and open (mostly Trek, but some general sci-fi once in a while).

I wanted to just get your marbles rolling on story ideas. But I would also love feedback on things and topics. So reply here with a simple "yay" or, preferably, some feedback on what you would like to see. I will hopefully get something going in the next couple weeks!

In light of the latest STO announcement, we could make the theme TOS (or NuTrek I suppose) era? Just something to consider.

Sadly, this announcement was back in May and has since stopped. I am hoping this will make a return, but we'll have to wait and see.

The interest for these competitions seems to wax and wane over time, and the last few runs have seen very few submissions - the last one had 1 submission, and the next one was going to have something I wrote and the 1 submission from before to at least have two.

Also, given some other events and challenges (real-life and here in UFP), my activity has declined significantly. If I get back in the swing of things ever, I'll be more than happy to facilitate these again. For now, there has to be more than a few responses sprinkled about.

Id be game to participate if there was a unrestricted event (where the story doesn't have to follow guidelines except for a word count, or even be Star Trek)
